Oh Sil for me Twigs,

A buddy over here spotted it on Bpl and squirted it away for me.

Didn't bother looking at vids until after first pitch, it's a tasty shelter but it's still a Tarp.

Nice one, seems the cuben is a bitch to pitch taut.

That's what I heard Twigs.

I will give it a good shakedown when I am back in Ireland in September, I have 3 US trips planned before then (2 local & 1 in the Rockys) so will use my Tarp Tent Stratosphire until I decide if want to spring for a Nesbitt inner.

I follow yodaquicksilver (apologies in advance, i'm crap at remembering "real" names) on Youtube and he's seemingly finally mastered pitching the cuben, to some degree.
Real nice bloke and has some vids on there well worth a look see.

It took me a whole 10 minutes to pitch my Cuben TS well the first time; now its considerably faster.

Not as forgiving as the sil....so more of a competents shelter than...ummm....the opposite..

God man Twigs will have a nose.

Did you have a chance to compare to Sil one Ed?

Sits back and waits for Trailstars to start popping up on Ebay and in the Classifieds when:

a) people realise that a tent with no headroom and no feckin' door isn't a great idea.
b) Colin Ibbotson tells them to buy something else.

Read the post carefully Stephen....

To me the Trailstar is a tarp Monty....if folk wish to add doors, inner's and so forth to it until it becomes an 'imperfect' tent so be it....

Where's my 400ml Keith bottle?
19/05/2012 at 08:02
Ooh those Keith bottles look good. Put me down for a couple too!

I was merely being hopeful Jim - not sure if they actually are obtainable....
19/05/2012 at 08:27
They are, but they're mad money even here in the Far East - and for no discernible benefit over aluminium that I can see. Same weight at four times the price. I might buy just one for myself, then swan around the Highlands with it, taking ostentatious swigs where people can see me.

Ed,

Let me rephrase the question, have you had a chance to pitch your cuben one alongside a Sil one?

Monty,

Same as Ed said, its a tarp.
19/05/2012 at 08:37
Cheers Ed, thought so. On the other hand.... what's 'mad money' MW? I'm still genuinely interested.
19/05/2012 at 08:39
Stephen, yes.

Jim....I know, it's that ti allure....all that glisters and so forth...
19/05/2012 at 08:42
Cheers Ed,

Is it your first bit of cuben lit?
19/05/2012 at 08:45
If you don't count a free stuffsack - yes....

The stuffsack, although only 12g turned out to be only three season and not really big enough as a shelter...bit of a disappointment..
