anyone had experience with kathmandu tents?.

in particular the lansan light?.

i am 6'2 and am looking for the holy grail, of a tent that i can sit up in, is relatively light, and dosent cost the earth!!.

so far i am looking at second hand lightwave t0's, terra nova voyagers, and msr hubbas.

any more i can add to the list would be handy!.

internal headroom of 100cm should be enough.

cheers!.

stevie.

Have no experience of the brand other than a few trips into there shops which have been strange experiences in themselves.

Although I haven't used any of their tents seeing as nobody has replied I thought I'd give some advice: The companies clothing as a whole is decidedly mid-range. They use top quality fabrics but are very badly cut and have no quality control with one piece of clothing in one size varying in cut between diffferent samples. I did look at the specs a year or two ago and thought they were 0.5-1kg overweight when looking for similar tents, certainly not in the same class as other tents you mention. The TN voyager wouldn't have had enough headroom I'd have thought (or if it did would only have it in the middle), from TN look at the solar 2.2. I ended up with a Big Agnes Copper Spur which has the space of a geodesic without the weight (or snow loading strength and as expected is noisy in wind). Main reason I got it over others was price at the time in a sale from US (but no top quality tent is going to be cheap). It's very good but I'm sure all those other companies products are similar. So although not directly answering, hope that helps and adds another brand to look at.

Passed the branch just off Oxford Street last night and it twigged my memory into remembering the "Summit Club" that gets you 25% off RRP for a £1 membership fee. Can't help but feel looking at the prices and the quality etc that prices have been inflated to accommodate the discount.

Not an unusual tactic.... I noticed that a number of Mountain Warehouse T-Shirts were showing RRP's of £20 the same as Arc'teryx charges YET just looking at the MW ones they looked used dishcloths interestingly they were in the "sales" down to £4.99

Arc t/shirts at £20 are a shapeless pile'o' shite. Peter Storm at £4.99 are quite nice.

I'll leave with your your "quite nice" then!

Dead bird sells something for only £20! must be rubbish at that price. Dumbing down their products obviously.

Obviously!

Like to share with us where we may purchase these dead bird full price £20 bargains bedders?

An Arcteryx dealer I would have thought would a good place to start.... then again you might want to try the new Patagonia shop in Covent Garden you never know?

Ellis brigham, Covent garden.

I paid £15 in the sale. Very poor quality, shapeless after 1 wash.

Urbanrock have some for £12.

>Very poor quality, shapeless after 1 wash.

Tut tut what do you expect from a brand thats universally known for its poor quality oh well back to Peter Storm that Gobal brand of excellence. Ho hum

Care to explain why a product of Arcs reputation would be of such poor quality?
09/10/2011 at 17:59
I'm lost on google bedders. There aren't any full price dead bird t shirts for £20 as far as i can see.
Are you comparing like with like or are you comparing something that costs £20 with somthing that costs £4.99? In which case the peter storm ones are unbeatable.

To what Arcteryx reputation do you refer? theres a bit of a clue in there!

Just been having a look at the Peter Storm website....

"no wonder we sell these garments as 'the most comfortable wet weather gear in the world'."
Modest bunch aren't they! BTW love the line drawings

Parky took me like 2 seconds to find this

Any the point I was making was that Mountain Warehouse are also selling T-Shirts at an RRP of £19.99 yet 'discounting' them to like £5

Its 100% cotton.
09/10/2011 at 18:12
Its for the street
09/10/2011 at 18:18
enough.... somebody has asked a reasonable question at the root and shouldn't have it hi-jacked.

Anyone have any experience of Kathmandu tents?

Cotton t shirt bedders. Are you recommending these bargains for real world use beyond the pub.
