Lightwave t20 trek xt

Can you think of any alternatives?

I'm thinking of buying a Lightwave t20 trek xt tunnel tent. It meets all of my requirements but I was wondering if any of you fine folk could recommend any alternatives that I may have missed?

I'm after a tent of a similar size, weight (lighter if possible), performance and price. I've had a look myself but can't find anything. I just dont want to spend a small fortune on a tent only to find one which would suit me better in a few weeks so I want to be absolutley certain its the one!

 Thanks

It's a good tent.  Downsides (and every tent has downsides) are it's an inner first pitch where you need the inner pitched for it to work at all, and it can be a bit of a game getting the fly on and the front pole in.  Neither should be deal-breakers.  You can get round those with a Vango Spirit 200+ but it's a bit heavier, or a Hilleberg Nallo 2GT which is considerably easier to pitch but the best part of double the price.

So what you've selected is nomnally a good choice.  Whether it's actually a good one depends what you have in mind for it...

I was aware that's it's pitch inner first, not really an issue for me as I've always had inner first tents. Going to mainly be carried on backpacking trips in the UK but also a bit of cycle touring.
I'm also going to get the standard fly for it so that should allow me a bit more flexibility and be cheaper than buying another tent.

Is it just you?  If so you'll be carrying a lot more space than you need.  Now, I'm a space whore and like lots of the stuff, but the t20 is a genuine 2 person design.  If it's for two of you, no issue there.

It's for me plus one, otherwise it would be a bit to big even for me!

Lightwave do have an outer pitch version in the pipeline.

It would be nice if the lightwave site was a little better, it looks like it hasn't been up dated since 2010. News like that would be good to update customers with. Any idea of how soon it's likely to launch ?
Also the best price I've found is here (with the 10% off offer)

But I've never heard or used them before, anybody have any experiences of them?
Cheers

It was supposed to be last month. Send lightwave a mail.

You don't state your actual requirements so it is hard to make suggestions. I presume that you have decided the extended porch is important to you and it is worth the extra weight, otherwise there a lighter options. If all you want is a bit of extra interior space then various 3 man tents might suit. I have a somewhat similar Lightwave myself and it is a good tent but a bit heavy to my way of thinking. When backpacking I like to go light; when car camping you might as well take something palatial.
