I initially wanted to get a Tarptent Contrail but after calculating VAT and import tax/duty it ended up close to 185 pounds with shipping. Can any suggest any similar alternatives to the tarptents that are available in the UK/Europe? Weight is the key issue.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Cheers managed to find a 2011 version of that Vango helium very cheaply at 130:

I will very seriously consider that one.

Well, posting on here's a good start

Much as I hate to come across as an opportunistic seller of gear, I've got a Golite Trig 1 sitting at home. Only been used a couple of nights and unlikely to see action again anytime soon. (Spoilt for choice these days) I keep meaning to pop it back into the Classifieds but never seem to get around to it.

Also got a Contrail but in two minds about passing it on.

Seriously tho', stick up a "Wanted" thread and see what comes back.

Thanks for the reply, did a quick search for the trig one and it looks like a cracking little solo tent. The only concert is that the internal space is listed at 85 inches, me being 6'5 once the sleeping bag is added I may end up scraping either end like when I once used a gelert solo.

Id certainly be interested in that contrail ,I used one once and loved it no space problems at all. If you do decide to sell it keep me in mind

In the meantime ill follow your advice and stick something up in the classified section.

I'm the same height as you, Daniel and I'm well-used to brushing the ends of most tents I've used In reality, it's not a ball-breaker. Any damp-transfer tends to be minimal. (I use a light bag cover if it looks like the weather is going to be stupidly wet or just chuck a jacket over your feet) Might be an issue on multi-day trips but not on overnighters IME.

The Trig is indeed a smidge over 7ft and gave me no issues whatsoever.  First dibs on the Contrail is yours if I decide to sell

Wild country Zephyros 1/2 best tent I've owned and it didn't cost an arm and a leg...

Read the title to this and thought 150 pound tent? bloody hell how many people are you going to need to carry 68KG of tent.

Then realised that the OP obviously doesn't have a £ on their keyboard
