Hi all,

May I first say that Jon Doran has agreed this thread is a good idea and has given us the go ahead.

Anyway, I am James from the online retailer OneOutdoors.co.uk, you may have seen the competition we are running here on OM, and we are teaming up with our supporting brands to bring you free ‘Live Events’.

These ‘Live Events’ use the technology available on our web site which allows you to chat (by typing) directly with us in real time about any of our products. This chat facility allows us to give you a great service.

After reading some of the forum postings here on OM it seems there are people who would really like the chance to chat directly with brand reps about product details. So, after a few clunks of our brains we thought we could use our ‘live help’ service to bring you free ‘Live Events’.

::So what happens?::
We will be running several ‘Live Events’ at times that suit as many registered OMer's as possible. Once the date and time is agreed then all you need to do is go on to our web site, login and click the ‘Live Event’ button, you will be put directly in contact with the brand rep and ask relevant questions until you are as full and content as that curry made you feel last night.

Easy really, you just type away at your keyboard and become enlightened.

After each ‘Live Event’ we will make a final posting to the forum basically saying what happened and provide answers to the most common questions so that anyone who couldn’t make the event can still read up about it.

::Sounds great, so when’s the first one? You decide::
Ok, so I called Rob from Ardblair Sports and he’s really up for it and wants to chat with you about GoLite lightweight clothing & equipment and about X-Socks.

Perhaps if those OMer's who would like the chance to ask questions about the GoLite gear or X-Socks or the lightweight movement in general could show their interest in this forum and then we can work out a date and time from there.

We imagine each ‘Live Event’ to be open for about an hour.

::Finally::
These ‘Live Events’ are your chance to ask the questions you want answered about gear.

You decide when they take place and you can come back to the forum to discuss matters after the event.

We hope to generate some good content for the forums here on OM.

Thanks for reading and hope to be chatting with you soon.

Are these brand reps honestly ready for the kind of onslaught and shredding that they will get from us lunatics here on OM?

And boy have i got some tech tent Q's that would baffle NASA.

yeah i'm up for a general shredding! but we don't do tents! only shelters!

I'm hoping that the experts will agree to handle some follow-up questions here on OM so that those people who can't manage the time window of the live chat can still ask the odd question :-)

Instead of the edited highlights, how about just posting the whole transcript of the Q & A session?

The way these events work is that you chat on a one to one, it's not a group chat where you can see everything so that's why we need to group it all together and make it a more readable post of minutes.

So, let's see if we can drum up some interest...

CM, WD - are you two in?
26/05/2006 at 07:24
Yeah I'd like to talk to GoLite, so count me in
26/05/2006 at 07:45
yeah i wanna chat to hilleberg and alpkit

Jon, i'm always knocking about on here to answer questions!

Cruster man - missin the point a bit fella - golite and x-socks. ;P

CM - you never know, maybe one day soon I could bring you a live event with Hilleberg. ;o)

This first one, however, will be with Rob and as he says you can chat about GoLite, X-Socks.

If you two guys can drum up some interest in this forum that would be great.

Thanks all.

Ok, initial interest perhaps a bit slow.

I will send a note to my customers and perhaps get some more interest that way and then see if we can settle on a date.

Thanks

James.

Weird Darren, Cruxster man - do you guys mind if I put you on my mailing list as I am going to bomb round a newsletter about the Live Events and try to get a few more sign ups before we go for a date?

Ta

James.
