I rather liked this quote from the story:
"The man, who had left the family home in Northumberland yesterday for the lone walk in the Fells, was trekking up the Borrowdale Valley to reach Scafell, a good day's walk."
I should say It's a good day's walk, 'bout 37 miles (and that's if you're a flapping crow) even from the nearest bit of Northumberland!
