I rather liked this quote from the story:

"The man, who had left the family home in Northumberland yesterday for the lone walk in the Fells, was trekking up the Borrowdale Valley to reach Scafell, a good day's walk."

I should say It's a good day's walk, 'bout 37 miles (and that's if you're a flapping crow) even from the nearest bit of Northumberland!

My favourite was..."he was well equipped with plastic bags"...

Was he looking for Tesco's on the way?

I gave him a ring on his mobile and he sounded okay. A bit unsure of where he was, but alive and surrounded by plastic bags.
