Reviews?

Has anyone purchased/got any views on the new range of packs from Montane? They look great but I can't find any reviews on them, besides the initial views from last year's trade shows. All of the best priced retailers (on a google search) have sold out, so a fair few of you must have the Medusa (32L).

Thoughts?

I've just sold a Medusa via the classifieds here.  Very nice pack, some really nifty features, but at 20" just too long in the back for me (that's a size L in Osprey terms).

I was seriously tempted by the pack you were selling, but what put me off was 1) only one hipbelt pocket, 2) I really like the external stretchy pocket on Osprey sacks, and this doesn't have one.
I realize the sack is designed more as a light climbing sack than a day-walking sack but those are features I really use a lot.

The 6L Batpack bum bag looks great for running & cycling.
- has anyone got one?

I have a Medusa. Only used it twice, but first impessions are good - very light, a comfortable carry, and not full of features you don't need.

Sadly though, missing the ones I do need..

How stupid of me! This is a lightweight mountaineering pack, therefore I would suggest that one hipbelt pocket is quite sufficient. It also has two stretchy wand pockets. Anything else on the outside is unnecessary. In my opinion.

The May 2012 issue of Trail, just out, has an in depth review of the Medusa 32.  It gives it 4 stars out of 5 and says:

"Like its waterproof clothing Montanes new Medusa 32 Rucksack looks set to become popular among hillwakers who want excellent performance at a good weight."

I'm prepared to bet that pitching the sales of the "mountaineering" pack in a hillwalking magazine such as trail or tgo suggests that montane think they will sell them to hillwalkers. As such , the gear loop is redundant.
The addition of the simple stretch pocket on the rear would have made such a difference.
Just my opinion, and why I won't buy one.
