Montane Terra Alternatives

Ripped My Last Pair

I have two pairs of Terras. Last Autumn one pair got a bit close to the chain saw and were well and truly ripped. Luckily my leg was OK. I really like them, but they are about 2-3" too short for me. There is supposed to be a "Long" version, but no one seems to stock them.

So what alternatives are there? So far I am considering Rab Treklites and Marmot Screes. I will probably be wearing these almost every day, so something that's available in all black, or a single plain colour. I don't really want something with big black knee patches on a contrasting colour.

Haglofs shcister trousers aren't cheap but well worth a look.
They're a slightly more casual fit which suits me, narrow legged trousers look like tights on me

Thanks. Unfortunately, no one locally seems to stock them. In fact wandering about Chester this afternoon (F&T, Cotswold and Ellis Brigham) most of what was available was Craghoppers. There was very little other stuff available. Maybe I'll mooch over to Llanberis and have a look around Joe Browns and V12.

I used to wear Terras but now prefer Rab Alpine trek, available in one plain colour.

Why don't you try emailing Montane? They've always been really swift and helpful when responding to my queries.

The Columbia Outlet store at Cheshire Oaks has a good selection of the brands stretch woven "pants" as the Americans like to call them all at discount prices say circa £45.  Telephone number is 0151 355 5005.  The North Face Outlet store at the same location also had some good offers when I visited last Saturday.

I've got a pair from mountain hardware that I like a lot, sorry can't remember there name. However Montane stuff is hard to beat.

Thanks everyone. Whilst I await a reply from Montane, I found some Rab Alpine Trek in Joe Brown's sale. I'll nip in on Friday and see how they fit me.

I didn't know there were any outdoor shops in Cheshire Oaks, as I normally avoid the place like the plague. Might have to steel myself for a visit. I'll probably visit the new Go when the children are back at school after Easter.

Cheshire Oaks has a number of shops that sell outdoor related kit. Among them are:

Nike, Asics, Reebok, Adidas, Craghoppers/Regatta, Outdoor Warehouse, North Face, Columbia and Timberland.

I think a full list will be on the Cheshire Oaks website.

Used to have an outlet store that did Pentland Company Gear (Berghaus and Brasher amongst others) but that shop closed about 12 months ago.
