Mountain Equipment Gloves Sizing

What is their sizing like?

Anyone got any Mountain Equipment Gloves (or even just tried them on?).  I'm thinking of getting a pair but I'm not sure of their sizing.

I normally take a large, but I bought a pair of Black Diamond Gloves last week, but they came up a bit tight on me, so didn't want to make the same mistake with the ME gloves.

Oh, and I live on the Isle of Man, and its a fair trek to go across to the mainland to try them on, which is why I'm just initially looking for your thoughts on their fit for the moment.

Sorry if this has been asked before the search facility on this site isn't working at the moment.

I own a pair of ME glove in a large and they fit me perfectly but tried on a different style of ME glove the other day and they were XL and fitted perfectly. I think sizing depends as much on which style you want to buy as anything else. Best advice - try before you buy.

As GB says, I've got/tried a few different pairs of ME gloves, depending on glove, can be one size different, in my case, XS or S.

The winter gloves seem to be the 'worst', size wise. I think they allow enough room for you to wear 'liner'and fleece/warm type gloves underneath. So if not wearing other gloves can seem 'loose fitting'.

There must be a outdoor shop in IoM where you can try different gloves to find what fits best. Might not be ME, but if they do the job, why go for a certian brand.

Which ones are you looking at? The ones with a pile liner are pretty forgiving as the liner will begin to conform to your hand for a 'custom fit'. I find ME gloves fit me well in my 'normal' size, though, as with all gloves, the thumbs are too long for me.

Black Diamond size their gloves small (or at least I reckon they do). It's probably to make them more technical, and their's are still the industry standards in many respects.

Cheers MF, i was looking at the pinnacle gloves so sounds like large will be good for me.

These are only a couple of outdoors shops on the island and they only have a limited range of TNF or Berghaus, and no technical gear so no mountain gloves, so have to buy most stuff by mail order.

Panda, can you not return them if they don't fit?

Most of the OD companys I've used will accept returns as long as the goods are not damaged, within a certain time period, usually 14 days.

They will usually give you the option of trying another size or getting a refund. Some even supply a returns label, so you don't have to pay for postage.

Well yes, but even if you can't try them on directly worth trying to find a shop who'll give you lots of fit information. Ideally I suppose someone who stocks both them and a glove you can/have tried on in the past.

Then bother them for information Still not totally certain of course but....

I have both ME and BD powerstretch gloves, size medium.

Obviously not the best comparison because powerstretch is, err, so stretchy, but the BDs are definitely a tad smaller and a snugger fit.

are the powerstretch gloves really stretchy?

im buying these but i have NOOOOO idea on sizes...

are they real stretchy because i only have quite small hands so i was considering getting a medium but if they stretch a LOT then i may just go for small...

Its called powerstretch for a reason

Not that fit is entirely trivial even for this if you're fussy about internal seams and the like. Have to try stuff to find that out though.
