New product review system

Have you got something to say about gear

We just launched our product review system and it's waiting to hear your views on anything you've used. The idea is that we can build up a resource of opinions from people who have actually used stuff over varying lengths of time, which will make product researching a much much easier task.

Have a look and feel free to add your opinions. If you want to tell us about a product that isn't listed then just add it in and we'll put it live in as soon as we've checked the details. We would really like your support in getting this thing off the ground and then maybe manufacturers will start to realise what we actually want out of our outdoor gear.

I think it'll be great - once you've got some reviews. In fact I'll go and do one right now.

Done it. Anyone who's interested in my opinion on underpants can now check out the baselayer section.

I've just spent about an hour putting reviews in rather than doing any work. Does this improve my chances of winning a grands worth of Berghaus gear then :-)

Shame this wasn't done with Field & Trek as their range is much larger (and dare I say it better) than Cotswolds.

Dare, as I actually work for Cotswolds!

Howza about a book review section?

There's loads of mountaineering and climbing text books, biographies, general books, guide books etc out there. Reviews of them would be great. You could review publishing houses - are Cicerone better than Trailblazer?

Just add a book somewhere. See what Jon, (or Sal - who only seems to do things with email, and not actually all that much with the site) do(es) with it.

I personally reckon, that "Everest: Mountain Without Mercy" is a quality book, but that's a slightly different matter.

That's right. Add it in under Media and we'll alter it when we can add a new category in the near future. There should be a books and magazines category in there, but we haven't added it yet and so it has to go through our tech development in a queue of about 1 million other things that need doing.

I'm rarely on the front end of the site because I deal with behind the scenes stuff. Every so often I emerge and show my head, but most of the time I'm silently padding round back stage.

'...most of the time I'm silently padding around backstage...' And that would explain the stealth hat?

BUT generally, if there' something you want to review that's not listed already, just add under the relevant category and we'll approve and put it up after we've made sure that it really exists - BIKEmagic has a review by a cat of the Whiskas FRS Extreme mountain bike, but we'll have none of that on OUTDOORS.
