Paramo jacket size advice

Hi been offered a good deal on some paramo kit over the Internet but need some size advice. I am looking at the current versions of the fuera ascent jacket, Quito jacket & velez adventure trousers

Both jackets are for hill walking and mountain bike use - mainly hill walking.

I have a 43" chest and a 37" waist so I seem to be at the top end of large - I have heard the sleeve on paramo can be quite short so I was going to size up to XL

How bagged are the trousers - 36 or 38 are the option?

Any advice would be great?

Cheers,

Mike

If you're used to climbing-cut gear like Rab or Mountain Equipment, Paramo might come as quite a shock.

If you're spending big money, you'd have to go try it on somewhere. It's a really strange cut for some - I can't wear it tbh.

I've tried on a couple of jackets and a wind shirt and found them excessively baggy in the chest, with short sleeves - not for me personally.

Should point out - I'm 6ft, and 11st 5 ish - so average height but quite scrawny - and it felt like I was wearing a tent with half-mast sleeves!

Had the aspira smock a couple of years ago and found it baggy but fine - as i only used in the winter it was fine with a fleece under.

Not sure what this lightweight new stuffs like?

I, OTOH, an 5'8", 11st 3 ish and stocky, and the last few things I've tried just don't fit me either.  M is too short (this in tops btw, and I'm fairly long in the trunk with wee legs) and L is the right length but assumes I eat  a dozen lard pies a day (and while I'm not fat I'm certainly not skinny).  That was a Quito jacket, Torres gilet and Fuera smock, all rejected despite money burning hole in pocket all ready to buy them.

There again I have a couple of their reversible shirts (L) which fit me very well.  It's just the outer layers that don't seem to work for me.

So, try before you buy definitely seconded.

Pete.

I'm 6' and weigh 11 st 5 with a 33 inch waist.

I have a large Quito which, as it's designed for cycling as well as walking, has longer sleeves.

Fitting the Velez jackets is more of a problem. Medium size (which is my best fit for Paramo (Fuera and Katmai shirt) sleeves are too short and the large is too long in the body and baggy, which is why I went for a Quito in large.

None of the trousers suit or fit my legs and waist.

Try before you buy is advisable!
