Does anyone know what these are like? The info on the page doesn't tell you much. And could anyone tell me just how waterproof PHD's 'drishell' is. I have a Minimus jacket but I don't know how far I can risk using it in the rain.

Thnx

Not sure what to say about the Chamonix...   we got one for MoS in the sale this summer and it seems like a good little jacket - perhaps a bit more general purpose / high street than things like the Minimus and Ultra range, so the outer fabric's not quite so light, down fill power unknown (I'm guessing 700 European), but overall good quality, and a snip at £59!

I've had a Drishell Minimus jacket for 6 or 7 years now. I do my best to protect it from wet but I have worn it in rain and it's never ended up soaked and useless.  It shrugs off snow no problem. It handles light rain and drizzle pretty well, and it's coped with maybe 15 minutes or so of heavy rain a couple of times while I've been tent pitching and unpacking the car. I've clearly not reached its limit, but tbh for any more than that I'd try to protect it under my shell jacket.

I haven't got mine wet at all yet so dont know how the outer performs. However, it's an excellent jacket with some well thought out features like the fleece collar, internal cuff's in the sleeves to stop the warm escaping, and pockets are toasty warm for thawing out ones cold fingers.

If the small size fits, at 60ukp it's a bargain!

Hi Beth - do you know the weight and pack size? Thanks.

Just weighed mine, Craig, it's 510g (small size).

I've not tried stuffing it before but gave it a go out of interest and it squashed into a bag measuring 26 X 12 cms.  You could probably get it a bit smaller.

Thanks MoS, small would probably be about right for me I think.

Hmm, it's about double the weight of a minimus then. It's an excellent jacket for the price but I'm leaning towards saving a few more pennies and getting a minimus. Decisions....

Even the option of saving a few more pennies again and getting an ultra pullover

At least it's the nice sort of decision where you can't really go 'wrong'....
