A friend of mine has a much-loved pair of red zip-offs that are coming to the end of their life. They've been on borrowed time for weeks and every hill means another emergency repair.

Anyone know where she could lay her hands on a pair of red zip-offs (double zip-offs, ie below and above the knee, for preference).

As she's slim and tall and (claims) she has no hips she'd prefer men's.

All serious feedback and any inventively disgusting response would be appreciated.

Now that's tempting fate...........

Bring it on. I can take it and my friend will hunt you down like a dog. Now about the trousers?

Thanks Ben. The fact that she wants red is the real bugger-factor, but she likes red gear and who are we to judge these things?

Beige, sand, khaki, earth, olive green, tan, fawn, erm, beige again, desert, caramel, tarmac, asphalt. Take your pick.

Red? Hmmm... I reckon your best bet is probably one of the European brands. I know Jack Wolfskin used to do a triple zip-off pant and they have normal zip-offs in 'rust' which seems to be a sort of dull red - called Pineland.

The Triple Zip are the triple zip and the JW web site is at: www.jackwolfskin.de

Sadly the Triple Zip only seems to come in shades of beige.

Thanks Jon. You're right on all counts. My friend may have to compromise her principles 'cos so far Pineland (and it is a dull red isn't it) is as close as it gets.

Also, Columbia do a thing called the Fly Creek convertible pant, which is available in 'Barn Red'. Not sure if it's imported into the UK but the web site is:
www.columbia.com

This should be them.

service_uk@columbia.com is the e-mail address of the UK distributor.

Red? I dunno...

Might still work out. My friend's slim and American youth often aren't. Thanks again.

Of course she could always buy a light colour and dye them herself

Are you suggesting that my friend should squeeze a welshman over her pants?
08/09/2003 at 13:56
I mean we've all done it.
08/09/2003 at 13:57
