Renewing walking pole grips

Hi,

has anyone ever renewed walking pole grips on poles that aren't supposed to be replaced?

I know Leki and Black Diamond do replacement handles, but I think they will be designed to do that no?

I have a pair of cheapo poles which I never use, but if I could change the handles to something lighter and comfier I probably would.

Anyone any thoughts or links?

Cheers!

There is probably a screw in the top of the grip. Take it out and see hwo much glue is there as well.  Most poles are about the same diameter so in theory grips off one might fit another. Suck it and see I think.

They usually use a thermo-setting glue.  Dip the grip into boiling water for a wee while and then if it is thermo-setting glue it should pull off.

Similar glue (i.e. from a glue gun) to put the new one on.

Pete.

Cheers! I will try both of those ideas, let you know how I get on!

I removed a handle on a Grivel by dipping in boiling water.  It was using a camp stove in the Pyrenees years ago & I'm buggered if I can remember why I had to take the handle off!
