Now Chrimbo is over i've started to feel the need for some post Christmas retail therapy ;) to help me get over the stress of it all :D
I'm sure there are others out there looking for bargains for the same reason so thought it may be helpful to collate a place for bargains to make the job easier.

Myself have just treated myself to a Macpac Olympus from Cotswold for £220 which I thought was a steal :)

What have you gus and ladies been treating yourself to in the sales?

Having recieved a few TK Maxx vouchers for Chrimbo and a bloody awful shirt that could be refunded a took a stroll round the Worthing branch and found a VERY nice sprayway dominator top of the line windproof fleece for avery reasonable £90 from £150...very pleased...have also seen the odd Patagonia,SW and Berghaus thing in this branch...probably because the store is inhabited by 19 yr old urban terrorists who's sole purpose in life is to dress like a pimp...ah well their loss etc

He he he... Worthing, what a great place. Not that I can really comment, as I live in Lancing, also full of urban terrorists who probably are pimps, but hey.

Hi Tom
Just moved down to Worthing to live with my G/Friend....great countryside Tom but are there any local walking/rambling clubs?...feeling a little isolated here with no hiking buddies

Hawkshead have a sale - some items half price. OK so most of their stuff isn't technical (lots of it is cotton based) but if you are selective there are some real bargains to be had. Half-price windblock fleece with pit-zips and fabric inserts on shoulders & elbows. Their 3in1 Advantage jacket is down to £49 - I've had one for some months - wear separate or together (but not zipped in - too much hassle). It's a treated nylon outerwith 5 external pockets, pit-zips and large roll-away hood. I'm gonna write a review on it as soon as it's been tested in a really heavy rainstorm - so far the only disadvantages are non-wicking inner sleeves, and chest pockets won't take an O/S map; the fleece is very basic but does the job. The other thing to note is the prices in their shops aren't as good as the online price! The half-price fleeces only had £10 off in the shop, so try on in the shop; then buy online :>)

I would thoroughly recommend trying on in the shop then looking for stuff online. This is the main function of Tiso in my life, as their prices are ludicrous, they don't do student discount, but their range of stuff, especially in the Edinburgh branch is fantastic! It is also possible to find alternative colour schemes on the web - especially girls stuff. If you can only find it in lilac and pink in UK shops, chances are that it may be manufactured in more attractive colours for the US market and available online. Don't ask me why!

Have seen some fab bargains instore, but not really online.

CCC's Coventry shop, Go Outdoors has some great bargains (Fastrek trousers for £15, for example, and Rab Vapourtrail tops for £50), as does Rock Bottom (got a MHW top for £30 instead of £60 yesterday)

Hunt around a few places, and you'll probably find better deals than online :)

Tell me more about "Go Outdoors" - can't find them on't' webby thing

JJ, it's a HUGE (48,000 sq ft) shop owned by CCC, but they sell far more than CCC - more brands, better specced stuff, and they have a climbing dept staffed by climbers who know their stuff (nice) unlike the online shop.
If you go to the CCC website and click on "stores" it tells you about it - what it doesn't say, of course, is how much other stuff they sell. (Rab, ME, Arcteryx etc, all the top end brands except MHW)

In reply to Mark H 3: Sorry, I climb, (and mostly at uni in Devon) I'm afraid, so wouldn't know of any walking clubs. Maybe you could start another thread, or I'm sure the Ramlers association would have some info on this kinda thing.
