Salomon Cosmic 4D gtx- any good?

I am looking at getting a new pair of lightweight walking boots this summer and I have seen the Salomon Cosmic 4D gtx.

I have had several pairs of Salomon trail running shoes and they've been great. I have tried and pair on and the fit is good for me. I suppose I am more interested in how hard wearing they are (or aren't!).

Just wondered if anyone has had any experience of these boots? Good or bad.

Cheers.

Just a few people, yes The user reviews here very helpful where they exist. Main site review here.

That the Goretex liner is prone to giving out quite fast very much not news of course. That happens with everything like this. The lugs on the sole unit don't look hugely deep from the pictures I've found so maybe the grip complaints down to them clogging with mud?

One thing though - why not one of their numerous sets of shoes? Notably cheaper for starters and probably as durable. No goretex liner definetly a lot better for summer use too.

Brilliant, very comfy and very surprisingly, mine are still waterproof despite being somewhat abused!

I didn't wear them much last summer though, apart from a few trips over the Pennine bogs.  As Martin has pointed out, I tend to go with unlined shoes over summer.

I've used mine quite a bit over approx 12 months.
Goretex liner isn't great after approx 8 months, not exceptionally breathable either but they give great ankle support, they're very light and very comfortable.
I'd recommend them but I've now bought leather boots for winter use
