I'm looking for a new sleeping bag but I can't find what I want. Here's my requirements:
- ideally £150 but £200 max
- must fit my 186cm slightly overweight broad build
- say -5C comfort (or lower if possible)
- small pack size
- as light as possible say 1.0 - 1.25kg Max
Does this bag exist?
Does anyone know of anything suitable ?
many thanks

80cm shoulders

thanks Addick!
I looked at the Cumulus ultralight bags 3 or 4 years ago and the zip kept sticking which completely put me off the bag.
Hopefully they've fixed it now

Are there any more options or am I being unrealistic?

alpkit pipedream 600

£170
950grams
-10 comfort limit

only problem its so good its always sold out, as is most of alpkits sleeping bag range, there are more due in for the end of june though so if you can wait a couple of weeks go for that.

Sadly the Pipedream is too small
'tis a midge short and not very wide either

Have you looked at the North Face Gold Kazoo?

Thanks Michael, I'll take a look.
It has comfort 2C and comfort limit of -4C
It's probably not warm enough for 3-season backpacking on the hills but I'll check anyway

the Tundra Pure bags would fit (I have a pipedream to compare with my Tundra pure and dry- 10 longer and wider - much roomier)

just over £200....

Alpkit also do the Skyehigh range...no idea what the difference is between that and the Pipedream (if anyone does I'm looking to buy one of them soonish so any info is appreciated!) I think I read somewhere that the Pipedream are a bit more 'fitted'... :/ Personally, I like Alpkit stuff because it's decent and really reasonably priced...no need to pay any more!

Would say that you or anyone else looking to buy any sort of down product do it sooner rather than later as there are some (more) big price rises in the pipeline according to the WSJ. Its due to the high global demand for down.

edd175 - Alpkit sold out of long bags

Bedouin - what is WSJ?

Justin

I'm 183cm and found a standard length Skyehigh plenty long enough  as does my mate who has one and is 185cm (it feels longer than the pipedream which I just fit into ok)

Defo the worst thing about Alpkit is that you have to order one to be sure of fit.

An imaginary problem IMO.

the same for buying/trying many things really if you don't live in or close to, a city.

For a lot of people, time needed and cost of fuel/transport to get to the shops  is just as much or more than, time needed to repackage/cost of postage to send something back

(Alpkit like some other retailers, do free next day delivery)

re Alpkit - I'm a bit over 6'1 so 186cm tall and a broadish 44" chest. I tried a friends early skyehigh and it's a tight fit. Are the new ones wider/longer?

I have a ME Helium 400 and its a very tight fit hence my reluctance to buy anything that is remotely tight. I've learned my lesson there

dunno!  not sure that they've ever altered the design.  I found it a very roomy sleeping bag compared to a Pipedream - which is a trim fit but ok for me.

I'll go back and try my mate's again but they all seem out of stock anyway

SkyeHigh bags are out of stock until late summer so that's them ruled out

has anyone got a Marmot Long or Mountain Equipment XL size bag?
