Hi which self inflated mats would everyone recommend I need one for a 14 day trek it has to be both comfortable and robust gear is being carried on a mule so although there is a weight limit I don't have to be too lightweight
Iv been looking at the Alpkit dozers but as usual Alpkit have zero stock baffles me how they stay in business!

I just got a Thermarest NeoAir All Season, there are also the regular NeoAir which are basically the same just alot less warmer (don't get the Thermarest X-Lite I have heard while light they can puncture easily)..but it is a great pad I have just layed down on it but it seems good so far, and it is only 1 lb and packs down really small, doesnt take too long to blow up compared to other pads and durable too..I heard Exped makes good ones too but not sure

I've looked at the Exped mats they look great but the reviews say they are a pain ti inflate with the integral pump

well they have one that doesnt have the integral pump called the lite verison and its blowing it up with your mouth

Another vote for the NeoAir

I have the Exped Synmat UL. I pump it up with an Exped 'pump pillow'. Very easy + quick and makes a good pillow too. I don't know if any of the other Exped mats can be pumped up this way, but I would definitely recommend. My experience of this and other Exped mats has been good.

Have both NeoAir and Exped. Both are great, very comfy. I don't find the integral pump in the Exped makes it difficult to pump up, and in the confined space of a snowhole, it was brilliant.

The exped built in pump works well. OK it is more work than opening a valve and waiting, but not too onerous. Wort it for the comfort.

Exped say that you can also use the pillow pump with a flat valve adaptor with the integral pump mats

Is the synmat ul strong enough for multi day trek or would I be better with the standard synmat 7
Also does anyone know where I can but the synmats I've looked online they all say out of stock

I'm a small careful female, and I think the UL version of the Synmat would be OK in my care for extended trekking.
However, my hubby (-a large 'chubby' fellow with less patience) has the more durable Downmat. I'm not sure I'd let him loose with the UL version.
I've not handled the heavier weight Synmat.

I am a large bloke and at weekend I was out with my 9yo. We were both on synmats. Neither my weight, or the abuse given by a 90 has had any noticeable effect.

Hi Paul was that the standard synmat 7 or the synmat7 UL

Standards

Another vote for the NeoAIr, although it doesn't fit in with the OP's request for a self inflating mat. If the latter is what he's after then I'd recommend a TAR Prolite, or maybe one of the Multimat self inflators.

Hi all I've just had an email from exped who recommend the synmat 9 LW both for the comfort due to the length of the trip and also the durability of the material and the LW so I don't roll off the side like I do sometimes with my current 50cm mat

The down side is the sheer size of them. I used a pair of the LWs last weekend. There was very little floor space inside the tent with two mats in there. It's a three man tent.

Size shouldn't be an issue mines a three man and can easily get 3 standard width beds side by side although I only use it as a two man

No problem - just beware that at 65cm they are approaching single bed size.with a 3 man tent, I'd expect two LWs to pretty much fill it.

Ok cheers Paul will check but my other half will probably only need a standard width
Unless she nicks mine!
