Try on a load and get the comfiest... there's quite a choice these days and no shortage of models that will do the business.  So rather than enthuse over the individual marketing bullet points of ME, Rab, Montane, Patagonia, Arc etc. etc. check in person and select according to fit, which will make the biggest comfort difference.

Pete.

I can recommend Mammut Basejump pants. they are comfy for me, they have good braces (although you have to buy them seperately), and breath well. They will keep out light rain, but nothing sustained (but I have not treated them in any way to improve the waterproofnes). I would recommend a thick marino baselayer underneath and maybe even a waterproof shell trouser over them for the top.

Decathlon Bionnassay soft shell trousers?  £40.  Google for reviews/comments.  Fairly well received on OM and UK Climbing.

See this thread, for instance, which has other links.

Other options might be found in thread, thread or thread.

The reason I didnt suggest that option PA is that getting all 3 gives you a flexible layering system not just applicable to high mountains and winter!

My favorites are Mammut Basejump pants, Rab VR, Montane XT
