Hi folks,

Can anyone recommend a good 4 season synthetic sleeping bag which also has a really compact packed size? I have a Marmot Wave IV just now which takes up most of my rucksack!

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Your looking for a holy grail. A compact synthetic 4 season bag. True warm 4 season capable bags are big and heavy ones. Something in the range of a TNF snowshoe is managable but not truelly 4 season capable with the bigger freezing temps

The Mountain Hardwear Ultra Lamina bags are about the most compact synthetic bags I've seen for the warmth provided, but that's still not saying much. Down is definitely the way to go for compact bags.

Thanks folks, I'll have at look at those. Down is not an option - I'm allergic to it!

Perhaps the Mammut Ajungilak range might have something for you. Perhaps the winter kompakt or else a winter alpin or a tyin.

ive just bought a corinthia defence 4 which is rated by many as one of the best cold weather synthetic bags availiable, but not the smallest but smaller than many of a similar rating -15 comfort,-35 extreme 2kilo

I just picked up a MH Ultralamina 0 on ebay, it arrived today and I have to say I'm impressed.

I used a Snugpak Elite 4 for a number of years for winter camping and that was another great bag.

Worth looking at both
