Talkback: Haglofs Gram 15

It would be great to see a comparison of the Haglofs Gram 15 against the Montane Anaconda 18.

Different in multiple ways, some rather obvious like the hip belt! Also 100g in weight, toughness of materials, where the zip openings are etc.

The other thing is that the number of little touches they've put on the grams is astonishing.

Lets see if I can remember them all:

those one hand openable/closeable bottle pockets, expanding hip belt pockets, external bladder pocket with a hanger, internal mesh security pocket, tiny little attachment pockets for those add on pockets they're doing and probably more....

I'd say that they all explain the price, although its obviously a personal decision if they justify it!

Not entirely certain in general, I got a gram 25 as it was the first small pack I'd found genuinely long enough to work well for me.

I have the montane anaconda 18.  I use it for day hikes and mountain running.  But I purchased it because it was so light and forced me to carry less crap.  I fount the simple design to be as mug as I needed.  A hip belt would be nice, but the bag with my gear is still light enough that I don't really miss having a hip belt.  The straps work fine to keep the bag from bouncing around.

The thing I'd miss isn't the carry from the hip belt, its the pockets Obviously personal preference again.

(a proper minimalist would probably be driven insane by the gram stuff, and quite quickly with it )

Just recieved my Gram15 today after reading the review yesterday...

bought a lim35 earlier this year to use for wildcamping jaunts and have been very impressed with it..

I also wanted a smallish tough and light pack with a hip belt for day walks and more importantly..  mountain biking.. to replace an ageing berghaus 20 litre pack ive been using for the last 5 years (that doesnt have a proper hip belt or chest strap..)

I have only tried it at work so far, but loaded it with a couple of things hanging around the office and was impressed with the fit and load carrying ability..

I like the vertical zip.. but it could maybe have done with a 2 way zip to make it truly versatile and unique so you could open it from the bottom or the top to access different bits of the bag without disturbing others..

Very impressed so far.. cant wait to take it out for a proper test!
