But what if it is wet? I wouldn't want it in the tent, and esp not on my down bag.

It goes in the rucksack liner if it is wet; not that I am averse to putting it in the porch if needs be.

I'm waiting for the longer fly version of the T.T. Scarp 2 for winter camping. Naturally I'll get the ripstop inner tent option instead of the netting body.  Looks like it may be out in sometime in spring but no date has been set.

I already have the T.T. Moment solo tent for 3 season camping. It is another really neat design. I want the Scarp 2  because I think it's safer to camp with at least two people in winter.  And I like the double vestibule ("porch") of the Scarp 2. No more crawling over others at 0 Dark Thirty for a pee call.

Hi,

I have Henry's Contrail tarptent which is great, however I want to do more winter camping though probably not up high and not in snow unless it catches me out. I've read a lot of the Akto v Laser comparison comments but keep coming back to the Scarp 1. Anyone had all three or a couple for considered comments?

I am likely to go to the US later this year and could get the Scarp shipped to a friend there for me to pick up before I face some cold weather in Maine. You all seem to like the Scarp 1, do you still ? What about the extra poles for poor conditions, am I going to wish I had got them at the beginning, I see they are not so expensive, tho they add some weight.

Hi SD, the crossover poles make the Scarp 1 a strong winter tent able to stand up to high winds and heavy snow loads. I would definitely get them. Without the crossover poles the Scarp 1 has similar stability to the Akto and slightly more than the Laser.
