I'll vouch for the MSR XGK at altitudes up to 6000 metres, but haven't used the Primus consistently at those sort of heights.

I have use omnifuel and msr multi fuel stoves.

For me the omni fuel is better because you can use a gas canister if the need arises. This is very handy. I have ony used the stove up to around 3000 feet but it performed faultlesly.

It is easy to maintain and very economical if you use parafin rather than petrol or coleman fuel which I think is extremely expensive.

My stove has been used for long trips of up to two weeks duration using parafin as the main fuel supply. I had to strip the stove once during a two week trip and I did it in the tent. I have had the stove about 3 years. I plan to keep it and would expect at least another 10 years at the least as it is still in perfect condition.

I usually strip and clean the stove after approx 20 uses as a precaution. This takes only about 5 ninutes to do.

I carry a brass wire brush to clean the threads on the stove control valve. as well as some basic spare parts. (I have not needed to use any of these yet).

You can hang the stove too if required - good for climbning etc.

I sometimes blast the residual fuel out of the supply line using a gas canister when I have switched off in a rush.

Priming times increase with heavy fuels such as deisel, parfin - petrol is quicker - gas is instant.

Hope this is usefull...

Tony, use the little picture of a tree, on the reply window, to embed a utube video.

Sig's are a waste of bandwidth...
