just got the new tikka plus. the tilting head is a big benefit for me as i use varifocal glasses and had problems getting the old light on the right part of what i wanted to focus on.

otherwise, same weight, same headband but with flashing disco mode.

where did you get it from? I've been looking for one but can't find a online supplier

I think Nevisport have them online

You can buy them on Blacks, I bought the Zipka Plus last weekend, & they had the Tikka too.

You can get them from Peglers in Arundel I think. They do a postal service.

Well praise the Lord!! I got given one!! And I did not even have to ask!! Performance is brilliant, incredible battery life, low weight, great beam.

Why? How? Who? Where?

More importantly, can I have a free one? Pretty please with a cherry on top....

I heard from staff at Rock and Run that the Petzl LEDs aren't as good as the Black Diamond ones and so dont give useful light for as long.

Which models specifically? There's quite a few, Petzl do the Tikka, Tikka Plus, Myo 3 and Myo 5 all of which use LEDs and Black Diamond also have a few variations, there's the Moonlight, then there's also a new, upgraded Moonlight for this year with more battery power, so I guess it depends on what you compare with what. To be honest, all LEDs last quite a while. Where the Moonlight definitely has the edge is in robustness. It is really tough, I threw it out of a second storey window twice then against a wall as hard as I could and all it did was scratch the casing slightly.

Slightly worried as to the extremes you go with during gear testing Jon. Do you get yourself dragged behind a car when testing clothing durability? Next time you're testing a tent, I could come along with home-made bear claws to see how it would survive a bear attack.

I'm available most weekends.

Grrrrrr.....

Regarding Petzl v Black Diamond the torches we were discussing at the time were the Zipka and Tikka v the Ion and Moonlight. I'm only repeating what RockRun manager said to me, haven't done my own indepth analysis.
