Vaude

I've got some  tried and tested Vaude walking trousers and bike jackets  that have proved to be very reliable and hard wearing. I've been looking to get a new 2 man tent and noticed that Vaude also make tents. Some of them look very well made and have received some good reviews.

Anyone on OM got any experience of Vaude Tents in the £150 - £300 bracket?

Cheers

Not personally used them but have at least 3 friends who have been happy customers.  I'd be happy to add them to a shortlist from what I've seen.

Wot Pete said - not had a Vaude myself but mates who have seem very happy with them.

Both the Hogan and the Mk II seem stable and sturdy. I was camped in Langdale recently and the wind was approaching gale force (or, at least, gusting to 7) even in the valley. I  noticed that a Vaude Mk II - the one that hangs off external poles - seemed steadier and a bit less 'flappy' than any of the several single-hoop Laser-style tents nearby.

I've been using the Taurus UL for a few years now and can't really fault it. It certainly provides very good shelter for the low weight and the quality seems excellent. It does flex a lot in high winds, but good pitching and guying help — and it is a lightweight tent and not a fortress.

I used a Vaude Hogan Ultra light one several years ago just below Bowfell.Absolutely lashed it down all night and had visions of the tent blowing away but it stood up to the Storm really well.

I think that the newer version of this tent is The Vaude Hogan Ultra light Argon which already has the seams sealed and weighs round 1.5kg.

Only downside is the small porch but for an extra 100gr in weight,Vaude do The Hogan Ultralight XP which has more headroom and extended porch.

Great tents which appear to be quite strong and well made.

So many options to look at. I like the Vaude Hogan Ultralight xp and the MSR Hubba. To start with I plan to use the chosen tent in a campsite and not to be taken in my rucksack, so I suppose I could get a slightly roomier option?

I like thermarest neo and base camp mats

Sleeping bags, well I do like Alpkits 4 and 600, but I suppose I want one that won't boil me alive in spring and summer.

I'm off to the Rab shop in Derbyshire tomorrow to try and bag a bargain

I am on my 2nd Vaude tent. I owned a Power Odysee, briefly, but never actually used it (sold it to a member on OM) and currently use a Power Lizard.

Extremely well made kit and if I hadn't found an amazing deal on a Crux x2 Storm, I'd still be using the Power Odysee, which might fit your criteria as a slightly roomier option.

The Power Lizard is small and lightweight, coming in at 1 kilo for two person tent. I use it solo and it has plenty room. I'm 6' tall and there's easily another 6" legroom which is worthy of mention as many tents of this type are a little short on legroom!

I don't believe you'll be disappointed by the quality of a Vaude tent.
