Waterproof Trousers...

Ok, so I have been looking for some new waterproof overtrousers recently. The ones I have are cheap trekmates ones and although they're ok, I'd like something a bit better. The ones I was considering are the Berghaus Deluge, and the Sprayway Hydrolite. I like the feel of the Sprayway ones a bit better than the Berg's.
I recently saw both Deluge and Deluge PRO trousers and wondered what the difference was, and according to Berghaus the PRO version is specific to Blacks group and incorporates a stuff sac...the trouser is the same , but the addition of a stuff sac makes them worth £8-£15 more than the others...? WTF ?

I also tried to buy the Sprayway ones from Go Outdoors, as they have them on sale at the moment in their website. Guess what ? 2 days after taking my order they tell me that they are out of stock. I understand this happens a lot with Go Outdoors...

Any other suggestions at around the £40-£65 range ? I don't want Paramo trousers, and I'm not prepared to spend more than this for a pair that will likely get trashed on a wire fence first time out...

Hi Rod,

I can highly recommend Montane Atomic Trousers, find them very comfortable and more importantly very waterproof.

They are also quite light for over trousers which is great for the (majority of) time they spend in your pack.

Oh, they also come with a free stuff sack.

Rod,

depending on where you live, you could try one of the various Helly Hansen outlets. I've had a couple of pairs of waterproof trousers from them (one heavier pair for all day use; one lighter pair for days when I hope to keep them in the pack) ; both have faired as well as anything else I've used; both have full side zips and both were bought for under £50. Recently, I've seen their Verglas trousers in store (Bicester) for about that price IIRC. They often have stuff from about the £30 mark that would serve you well until you meet with the barbed wire!

Otherwise, as said above, the new Kamleika stuff from OMM is pretty nice.

Slightly ON topic for a change, my existing wet gear got a wee workout here last night as I had to walk a couple of miles to my parent's house as they were at risk of flooding out in the torrential rain we had over Sunday. Happy to say my GORETEX lined boots , event gaiters and GORETEX Golf overtrousers kept me pretty dry. Might not be moving my car for a day or two though..

Panic averted, someone came out with a big roll of kitchen towel and sooked it all up...
