What is the point?

"Nobody forces anyone to dribble on their waterproofs. It would appear that many do it at the drop of a hat." well said.

Well the Feura by itself is genuinely useful (if it fits) but its 'just' a standard windshirt. So great with wind and no/gentle rain (tougher than a waterproof, more breathable etc etc) but certainly not a waterproof substitute in the same way as their stuff with the liner.

Well said, Martin. The Fuera does what it says it does very well.

.

I have worn Paramo for some 12 years now (and my first jacket is still going strong )- Including:

  • Fuera
  • Aspira Jacket
  • Aspira Smock
  • Alta
  • Cascada
  • Velez
  • Viento

None of which have leaked. All of which (except Aspiras) have been worn in summer months as well as winter. All of which have been worked hard, and my Velez was my standard running waterproof for a year or so.

Horses for courses.... I would rather go with the recommendations of Paramo that the self proclaimed know-it-alls.

you must have very active saliva glands bluff to be able to dribble over that lot.

were you a dog in a former life?

My Rottie helps, she also dribbles at the drop of a hat... She also eats the hat

I'd really not bother. Options are

  • proof a Paramo Explorer, Pull-on, or Trekker Hoodie, it will soak up water slower and so dry quicker and so sit under a Fuera windproof and handle rain ok but not heavy sustained rain. That will compromise the wicking baselayer capability of the proofed fleece.
  • look at the weights and size of these items, a Quito or VAL rolled-up is not that large, it is about the same as a Explorer or Trekker rolled-up. You can carry a windproof and a waterproof and swap between them. Total weight is the same as a windproof You're then wearing a garment which does its job well.  If you're camping the waterproof will dry and be comfy to wear for hours and you don't take a fleece.
  • The Summit Hoodie, I've owned a few months, its more for a mixed indoors/outdoors situation, remove the windproof when indoors.
