IMHO - You can't go wrong with a "running" cap (see my avatar picture). I don't bother about whether or not it's waterproof as I'll rely on my jacket's hood to keep the water out. I tend to use micro-fibre ones over a fleece beanie in the winter, and the open mesh ones in the summer. Sorted !!!
Oh, and they're usually around about a tenner.
can you have a stylish baseball cap in a dark colour? or even in a light colour?
come to think of it, is there a stylish outdoors hat that doesn't make you look like a dork; apart from the fashionable, stylish and chic tilley hat of course - for those look like a standard lamp moments.
A baseball cap made from Schoeller Dryskin might be good. I wonder if anyone makes such a thing?
Where's Trevor when you need him?

I always wear baseball-type hats on the hills and have 2 that meet all your criteria, but for the waterproofness:
Mammut Climbing Cap, dark grey and a superb fit but does have a couple of small mesh panels.
Montane Aero, grey/black, cheaper than the Mammut and no mesh.
Haglofs make a baseball cap out of their flexable stuff. Not so very different from dryskin I think? Very nice it seems too.
The stretch makes it stay on very well, esp under waterproof hoods (where my also very nice Paramo cap struggles a bit.). Solar cap iirc, only in their Summer range though.
Yes it does have a button on the top. Actually also some seams which, with the close fit, could perhaps dig in on a really bad day too. It'd do everything else I suppose. I mentioned it as it was dryskinish
I don't understand cutting the ear/neck flaps off a Paramo cap? Even with them the face coverage is the main limiting factor in its all weather utility compared to a hood.
Warhippo - The Haglofs Wire Cap seems to fit most of your specification - baseball cap style, Gore Tex Pro Shell (so waterproof and breathable) it's black without a button on top.
Whether you will look a spud in it is debatable. Not easy to find on the net but if you find a Haglofs Zeb (same materials but with a full brim) and imagine a baseball cap...it's warm in the sun though...
Bought mine from North West Outdoor (think that's the name) in Ullapool in the spring so I'm a bit surprised it's not on the Haglofs site.
Amongst the items in the Terra Nova 1/2 price sale is this cap at 10 quid - http://www.terra-nova.co.uk/Clearance/Half_Price_Products/EOL_X_Cap_BLACK_SMALL.html
I've got quite a lot of T/N stuff and find even their 'seconds' very good quality.
Might be worth a look.
