Alterations to the tent
The nest will be ready in time for Climbing Hamster's Wales Coast Path Walk in July. I'm still working out the details/specs at the moment.
The Wales trip was epic : 1047 miles in 52 days. I used my MP2 for over 45 nights, in all weather conditions, and i can say that its a brill bit of kit, I didnt get the custom inner in time, but to be honest I hardly used the standard inner, only on a few odd nights, but instead opted for a double size groundsheet from Bob. Im 6'3 and i had a huge amount of room, so being 6'2 you will not have a problem at all.
Ill be posting stuff on all the kit that i took on my blog along with walk photos over the next few weeks http://dragonwalk2012.wordpress.com/
I've been given one of these Mini peak ii tents. As my knees are still good, I have no need for walking poles. But I have thought that a camera mono pod 150cm might do as a tent pole ? Any suggestions.
Hi James, I would test the strength of your pole (ooeer) at 145cm from handle tip to the basket and make sure there's not too much flex. In theory it should be okay, but the pole is under a fair amount of pressure in bad weather.MtnGeek, I've not seen another inner on the market, or can think of an old model which might do the job. Just as this inner doesn't fit the inside of the SL3 sadly.Glad the Hampster's trip went well. He certainly has a rubbish summer to deal with, but at least it gave the tent a good pasting.

Is there any news on Ookworks inner for MP2?
I haven't altered mine yet but suffering here with terminal man flu I may be able to find the strength to lift the sewing machine and replace some mesh with pertex as mentioned before. Otoh, if Sean has got one done it'll be less effort to buy one (and greater certainty of it doing the job!)
any more news on the Ookworks inner then, failing that wheres a decent place to buy pertex (or something better if there is) material so i can have a go at replacing the mesh my self?
I buy my material at either Pennine Outdoor or Point North. Both have websites and are good at helping you choose the right stuff if you phone them.

Sean at Ookworks is still working hard and has promised me a nest for a MLD Duomid by Christmas for the Backpackers club post christmas meet.
very much interested in the mini peak as a new tent to replace my single skin.
I was quite taken by this when I saw it in the BPL website but there's a lot of posts here about adding mesh and needing deeper bathtub sides and the nest not fitting brilliantly....Are Nobby and others perpetual 'tinkerers' looking to make a good product eve better or is this not a finished product in it's own right? Most (all really) of my backpacking is done in Scotland and mainly in the area I'd roughly describe as North of Perth and South of Inverness. I avoid the period from the end of June to the end of September as our small bewinged and betoothed friends seem to find me most tasty. I also tend to pitch for one night at a time, fairly late on, and then up and away again in the morning.
My question then (to finally get to it!): Is this the type of beast that is going to prove practical or is a lightweight, sewn-in groundsheet, albeit with far less usable space, a better option? I really don't want to buy something and then seek to modify it.
The benefit of your collective experience and considered views greatly appreciated in advance.
Bobby
No idea about the Luxe, but I have a Zephyros 2 and have not had any problems with the ground sheet. I am 6ft 2" (184cm ?) and fir in te Zephyros OK.
