Women's waterproofs - in large sizes

My wife needs a new waterproof - so I look around online for sub £100 jackets. Ok, so I find a few. Then I look at the sizes. They only go up to size 14! I thought the *average* women's was 14 - that means 50% above that size. What gives?
Is there a manufacturer making larger sizes in women's styling and cut?

Size LARGE in outdoor gear is usually a size 14...so all we walking women are supposed to be waifs and yet men's gear goes up to XXL!!

It is a common problem...

Try Regatta. If you can get over the label snobbery thing, they make reasonably priced, effective kit that's generally generously sized. The men's Large is more like a standard XL and I suspect the women's sizing is similar.
