Wild Country Tent

damn it! I just bought one online the other day and it was more than that

Well, don't be too upset; they had the Zephyros 2 advertised at £60, but, when I asked if they had one to buy, they said they didn't have them in stock, but the might be available online, although possibly at a different price.

So the £60 Zephyros 2 at Blacks may simply have been mythical...

Zephros 1 lite 2013 seems like the perfect tent. I can live I think with a little less headroom but the smaller pack size and weight is a guaranteed sale from me. Just need to sell all my existing gear now to help fund it.

Really can't see the point in the Z lite, when for £20 or so more you can have a comp.

My thots exactly, the new lites look great was expecting a good price also
I was gonna buy a wee cheap Zephyros1 for ??85 when I came across the new range thot I'd leave it, emailed terra nova to enquire when they are gonna be available and price etc
??180 & ??210 for the lite2 I can get a new comp for under ??200 easily
Look great and good bit lighter, I'm sure once there available won't be to and to find discount on them maybe make it worth a punt at ??140-??150

Just given my Zephyros 1 it's first major outing, did the Cleveland Way and have to say I'm very pleased with the way the tent performed.

Just picked up a laser comp 1 2012 fom my good pal snowdon ranger £160 sheets delighted saves me waiting on the zephyros lites

An excellent purchase. The cost of lightweight tents has gone sky high and its far better to shop around than pay silly money out.I think from memory that the RRP for the TN Laser Comp is now in excess of £300 and I am sure that the 2013 prices will only go one way and it won't be downwards!

Just make sure that you replace the crappy pegs with a set of decent ones.

what is actually so bad about these pegs...i don't really get it haha

my pegs just bent over at the end and half of them were curled in the middle after their first use...i do have a tendancy to just stomp them into the ground with my foot though lol

Alpkit pegs already on standby, couldn't believe my eyes when I seen them I wouldn't fancy my chances high in the Scottish hills with them

Prices are going mental only way is up! As I've just proved a keen eye for a bargain and a little patience goes a long way. I love my black diamond RAB Terra Nova Arcteryx kit as much as anyone but no longer will I waste my cash crazy RRPs

I've found the pegs to be oood for pitching in normal conditions, but I've managed to bend the tops of two of them, so I purchased some stronger Y pegs.

I just roll mine round its end struts. But the struts slip our of their pockets if you prefer to carry them separately (in a wand pocket for example). Further back in this thread you will find suggestions for modding the struts.

Re the pegs, I don't rate the poorly-finished alu angles supplied with the Zeph. There are plenty of potential replacements - see posts above for recommendations..

Ivehad mine out a couple of times and found the easiest way to pack it (and everything else for one night in my Talon 33) is to take out the struts and just put them Witt the poles and pegs in the pole bag. This goes in one of the outside side pockets the tucks under the lid at the top to stop it moving about. Then the rest of the tent I can just stuff down on the inside to take up any ad space in my pack

Hello all, I have been reading all this thread with great enthusiasm, I am now trying to decide between a 1 or a 2 for solo wild camping. I like the idea of the extra space of a 2 but the porch of the 1 seems to be bigger on the plan for cooking etc?

In reality is this the case?

Go for the 2 birth, the extra space is worth the weight & cost.

Great thread (Also hello forum )

Took my Zephy 2 out for the first time last weekend. Its a great tent although the weather was pretty tame so not got to give it a good go yet, got some Ti pins for it as I agree the stock pegs a terrible.

And thans SSP for the measurements for the end pole mod, was trying to find out if anyone had done this when I came across this forum.

I second that, Pinky. Not sure if the porch is wider in the one-berth version but the two-berth inner is comfortably large enough for a single occupant

Well I got my first chance to take my Zephy 2 out for its first real test this weekend. A nights wild camping in the Peak District. Very cold and windy in the evening with the rain and fog setting in around 11pm. The tent took it all in its stride and the 'End Pole Mod' detailed earlier in this thread worked a treat despite the high winds.
