Garmin etrex

how do I stop recording?

I've just got an etrex h.  Been for a long walk and then downloaded the data onto Anquet.  This shows exactly where I've been - just what I wanted.  The problem is that it also shows a long straight line back to my home.  I switched the device off after my walk but when I turned it on again at home it includes this location in the track.
Is there a way that I can end the recording?

 Thanks

I take it you mean Tracks, or distance?

The eTrex records a lot of ongoing data. If its a track, then go to the menu with Waypoints at the top, scroll down to Tracks, save or delete the track log as required.

If you've saved it, then delete it, so you start afresh.

If its distance, go to the menu with the compass on, using the ENTER button on the left, press, the scroll to the corresponding menu, where you can clear the time and distance.

I hope that helps.

Thanks Fleegle.

Been in sunny Lakes so didn't reply earlier.  Saved the track when I finished walking which seemed to do the trick.  You can reset the trip distance but not sure you can reset the odometer via the menu.

Hope you enjoyed the Lakes?

You're welcome.

Yes you can reset the odometer. Select the compass screen, press  the 'ENTER' button, the bottom one on the left, scroll to 'RESET TRIP' and job done.
