Hi guys, I been looking at several gps watches, such as the Timex Ironman gps watches, as my friend has one and, found it to be really handy when out and about. But I don't really want to have the same as him. The other one I was looking at is the sunnto Ambit Black HR, though its a tad bit pricey, although it pretty much has everything i'd like.
Main thing im after is a gps that monitors waypoints how far how high and gets me back to the start/car. I quite liked the weather monitor and storm alert too, dunno if they're actually any good?

again thanks for any advice.

My wife bought the Ambit HR and is very happy with it.  She uses it for ultra marathons and loves the fact that it has decent battery life.  It will certainly do what you're looking for.

Only problem with that one is the £400 price tag, and though I'll probably get that one, I was wondering if there's any cheaper alternatives

Watch or wrist GPS?  If the latter, then the Garmin Foretrex 401 is excellent, I use it for running, hiking, skiing etc. At £200 its half the price of the suunto, and I have to say (as a multi-suunto owner) its more reliable!

However, since its the size of a mini-mars bar, you wouldn't want it as an everyday watch.

Does the suunto make a good watch for the normal day? Not too flashy?

Well, I use an Observer XT as a day to day watch and it's fine.

I'd rather have a small GPS as a seperate unit but that's just me
