So, i have a whole load of maps but i'm finding navigating them a bit of a mare.

What i want to be able to do is use the Uk overview map but be able to drag around and zoom in to the areas i have maps for without having to go to each individual area and load it.

Any help please, before i give up yet again, idiots guide would be appreciated.

In the overview map, drag to the area you want and right click with your mouse. This should give you a sub menu on the screen, one of the options of which is "maps at cursor". Click on this option then pick the map you want. If you are unsure where you have more detailed mapping, in the map menu on the toolbar select "show map outlines" and the detailed maps should show up in green.

Was this what you were after?

Geoff

On the GB map overlay you can click on an area where you have maps and look at it.  You have to have sorted out your map list to start with: Map/Map List (ctrl + m) then click on the refresh map list button.  It is important you browse to the folder where you have downloaded the maps to from here.  You can have multiple locations.  If you have Ariel photos of the site as well as the O/S maps you can use these by right click on the map then "in out to smaller scale map".  You get back to O/S by right click &  "in to larger scale map".  If you have the elevation data for the areas you can 3D fly-through any routes you draw on the map.  I like that feature the best because you familiarise yourself with your route.

I'm not up for much longer (early start in the morning for the Lakes) but I should be able to give you some more pointers to specific questions I think.

PM me if you are missing any of the maps, I have a monthly subscription that allows me to get any maps I need (it's called TalkTalk broadband).

You can get free maps via Talk Talk?  I'm with them.  How's that work?
