Well, WHAT A DAY..
Totally never ever going to listen to a weather forcast again.. what a load a tosh!
Heavy showers my A**, I got 3rd deg sun burn, I'm bleedin glowing here... and my knees ache like billio..
Looking at the forcast I thought a full day on the tops of Seatallen and co was not such a good idea.. so we headed in the same direction.. just a change of venue.
If you ain't parked up on the top of Hard Knott pass, and climbed up to the top of the actually fell, do so on a fine day. It's wet.. realy wet.. there is now an electic fence to watch out for.. but man alive the views.. we actualy felt like you could reach out and touch Scafell..
Then down and back up the other side to do Harter Fell.. and if you like a little scrambling up rocks, the summit is full of em.. and again.. views.. totally buzzing.
The down side is if you are then wanting to do Green Crag, because I have to warn ya all (most of ya already know.. ) that if you try this now, you might not get back here, it's very, very, very wet!
My 7 year old was walking with my 12 yr old, hand in hand on Harter as she put a foot 6 inches off the path and ended up with her leg up to her thigh in bog..
Green crag will have to wait for another day for me to do it alone or with adult friends.
That left us with half the day still, so off to show the family Wasdale, which none of them had ever seen, and for me to possibly 'nip' up Buckbarrow and make life a little easier for another day. Still burning hot weather, so off I went.. Up Middle fell.. ouch that hurt.. straight up the steep side of Seatallen (double ouch), down to Buckbarrow having stood on all of its summits.
SO my next question is....
Anyone fancy a game of footy on top of Seatallen??? What a summit.. we could have a wild camp party up there... not that that would make it much of a wild camp...
Anyways.. buzzing day.. totally buzzing.. wish like hell we'd have loaded up the trailer and stayed at Wasdale all weekend.. but never mind.
Have a good one ya all
