Born again climber

Greetings, after several years out of the the climbing scene I have decided I need get back to the crags and do battle on rocks with rope. I did a rock climbing instructors course a Plas Brenin in the late 70's and could site lead up to VS. Now started to get some kit together. Based in North Yorkshire. Any takers?

Your not in my neck of the woods but the 70's was a long time ago. It EDIT: WILL be worth going to you local wall to get some experience. You'll also have a wealth of other local climbers knowledge but more importantly you'll be able to see the way people climb and if your comfortable with them on belay for a tricky "Watch me" move BEFORE your health/life is on the line.

Its been MY experience that throwing out this sort of post gets you replies from people that you probably wouldn't want to climb with i.e. from those that can't climb with others as they aint safe or those that are WAY exaggerating their ability.

Goes without saying that you should join and post in UKC

Where in N Yorks are you LS?

There is always York Mountaineering club, we get up to all sorts and there is normally a few bodies out playing with ropes as often as possible

Nearer Cleveland mountaineering club or Swaledale outdoor club. Based near Darlington at the moment.

I bumped into four guys from the Swaledale Outdoor Club in Norway a couple of weeks ago during my ski touring trip - good blokes, sounds like they're a very active bunch.

Bedders - from what I know of meeting up and climbing with unknown climbers, most seem to play down their abilities, quite massively at times - if you exaggerate, you soon get found out.

UKC may be the best forum to ask on tho, met some good partners on there.
