I know that there's another thread to do with this meet up, but it's 84 posts long.

So what's the score? Who's going? What's happening there?

Me, Jon C and Scoops (Half man - Half Ball Bearing) will be coming along.

There was lots of talk of grade 2 / grade 3 scrambling for some, climbing for others along with long walks.

More or less a bit of everything was mentioned.

Hopefully John Corteen will be along in a mo to give more details.

Alex - I'm going and have space to offer a lift if you need one. Just found out that I am free on the 8th AND the 9th !!!!!! GREAT! It will be my Birthday on the 7th, so I could do with doing something.

Si - I don't use rum!

Neil - by Sunday Bob was getting flu'd up and fell asleep at the lunch stop on top of Stanage (yes, I got a photograph of his head drooping onto his chest!!!!)
Last night I was shivering and fell asleep but thankfully we are feeling better today. Good to hear you're Ok for work, nice to have met you Neil!

Neil, that pic you're using is my signature image, so could I have it back please? It's part of my logo, and as it's been used quite a lot already, I'm trying to reclaim my ownership of it.

I've no objection to anyone downloading an image of themselves that I provide on my web site for free, but that pic, and all my images remain my copyright, even when they are used on OUTDOORSmagic and other sites.
21/10/2002 at 15:00
Simon - Sure, will do. Please tell me the site I got it from though beforehand.
21/10/2002 at 15:02
Could you elucidate on that please Neil?
21/10/2002 at 15:04
Neil, if that is a trick question to see if Si Kirwan really does own the copyright, he DOES. He is a professional travel photographer. Met him. Nice guy.

Hello everyone, partly my fault, I was about to e-mail Neil to explain that the image is Simon's copyright, then someone down at the London end of things approved it without asking me.

Everyone - sorry about the trouble I have caused, I have now changed the image.

Jeannie - No, it was not a trick question. I just wanted to be sure that HE knew where I got it from in the first place.

Simon - again, sorry for that. I do a little photography myself, so I understand copyright.

Again, sorry for any misunderstanding over this.
21/10/2002 at 15:13
That thought hadn't occurred to my innocent mind, Jeannie, but if anyone needs proof of my ownership of that pic, you only have to visit my web site The Lightbox where you can see it on every page as part of the logo.

it was taken in Nepal in 1999, on a fundraising event for Whizz Kidz Childrens Chairt, who have used it in their promotional literature ever since. it has appeared in The Guardian, Global Adventure, and Ultrafit magazine, as well as on OUTDOORSmagic Here and Here.

It has also appeared on several other sites, but should always be accompanied by a copyright message. If Neil is implying that he found it without such a message I'd like to hear about it - could you post the link to the other site you refer to please Neil?
21/10/2002 at 15:16
Simon - The Lightbox IS where I got it from, and I did not refer to any other site, ALTHOUGH I have seen it elsewhere, that is for sure. Don't know where though, I will look through some sites and let you know what I come up with.

Thanks Neil, wierdly no-one ever seems to plagiarise my photos - can't imagine why that is...

John - Anytime. lol - your photos can't be that bad can they?
I know mine are questionable when sold out of date Velvia!

Simon - you mentioned Whizzkidz - THAT is where I have seen the image before. I got their brouchure earlier in the year for the Everest Base Camp trek and it's on the 2nd page I think.

I'll be tagging along on this one I expect. Like Dave, it's the first OM meet i've been free to attend. Looking forward to it. I also know John Corteen but haven't met any others yet.

There was talk of some climbing on the original thread. Is this still the case...John? I'd probably be happy with just a walk or scramble as I have little actual climbing experience, unless people dont mind dragging me up. Whats the general opinion - are we likely to end up with two splinter groups, one climbing, one scrambling?
