Haunted wildcamp amongst the mining ruins (well ok it's not really haunted but i'd like to think it is!)

So the deal is, meeting at Tan Aeldroch campsite on Friday evening (located 3 miles along the A470 heading towards Pont y Pant, from the A5, near Betws-y-coed) The campsite is signposted - basic, no showers, but does have toilet facilities and campfires allowed, £5 per adult.

Saturday, heading over to Cnicht from Dolwyddelan Castle, wild camp somewhere, then plan to take in the Moelwyns, returning to cars on Sunday. (will organise a car at Tanygrisiau to return to Dolwyddelan...)

Interested, add your name to the list, usual thing....

Hi LMM,

don't know if we'll see you but we're staying in Betws-y-Coed from the 1-8th of July. We're staying in a B&B and hope to do some walking. I'm trying to sort out some routes over the next week or so. North face of Tryfan is definitely on the list. I need to check out how far away the Nantile ridge is from us. You may be able to tell we don't know the area that well.

I'll need to sort out a few fairly easy low level walks if last time was anything to go by. Low cloud on several days kept us down to about 300 metres. We hope to get in 5 days walking. I need to sort out an easyish walk to warm us up on the first day. The next 5 days we'll do 2 hard walks 1 moderate and 1 easy and we'll see how we feel to detemine the grade of the 5th.

I fear there will be a lot more rain and low cloud to contend with this time. I need to test my overtrousers before we go.

I'l have a look at the map and see if I can work out your route. Maybe we can meet up?

Be good to see you again Major

Rain?? Guess at this rate there will be none left in those clouds so will be a fab weekend.

I could do some grub for Friday evening if suits

Friday evening we will be on the campsite, hopefully with a 'real fire' weather permitting - so the only grub should be baked potatoes....... in tin foil.....nom nom...

PS. Seconded on the Major front

Am also in Snowdonia that weekend, but training, not wildcamping!

Just been checking my work email after 10 days off. The boss has asked if I can attend a trade show next Saturday and I can have a day in lieu.

If he makes it 3 then he will have a deal but fat chance of that.

Well it would be good if so but somehow I suspect there may be just a little left. I hear Mini Mal got some sunburn in North York Moors so perhaps there has been some good weather somewhere.

Just a tad!

I suspect I'll be taking the SL Voyager since I'll be spending a day sitting up a hill with no shelter!

Nope, check-point of sorts. I'll be up north again next weekend though, dogging for SARDA Wales (as opposed to South Wales).
