Plans then

Those camping at the Fox and hounds, (postcode is EX20 4HF) can park there over the weekend, those wildcamping on Friday night can park in a number of spots.

Approx grid ref for wild camping on Friday night is 532865, there are numerous spots to pitch around there. If you follow the track around to the Northish there is a cutting and good pitches either side of the river.

There are a couple of laybays on the Right hand side of the road just past the pub towards Tavistock. According to ‘sources’ you can park just opposite the pub on Station Road towards Bridestowe

In addition, there is a large car park 525853. This is immediately before the Dartmoor Inn just under a mile from the Fox & Hounds but not sign posted at all.

When you see the brown signs for Lydford and the golf course, the turning is to the left within 2 yards of the sign. You drive through a gate, and there are no clues of parking there (it is on the OS map though), the walk back to Nodden Gate is about a mile

There is also a disused garage opposite the Dartmoor Inn no signs about not parking.

If we arrange to meet in the Fox , Glenn and I will be there after 8ish

If  anyone wants my mobile no so you can find us just ask

Will endeavour to provide an answer asap, just making sure I'm up for this (physically) but signs are promising. Proper test coming saturday/sunday, if that goes well then it's down to one last little thing (which is beyond my control).

It certainly looks like a nice meet, would love to make it!

You can probably vouch for all meets being nice

Be good to meet you, am sure Milly will try and coerce you - sorry I mean coax you.

Im not sure how fit I am at the moment

If it helps you make the decision on Saturday, after 4 miles you cut straight to the campsite which is about 3 miles from there or again after 8 miles and 2 miles to the site.

Sunday can be cut to 7 or 8 if need be, or if needed could head Northish to South Zeal only a few miles and be picked up from there. So a number of options if needed.

If this weather keeps up, it shouldnt be too bad under foot and the route I have considered misses most of the potentially boggy areas

Hi All.

Has anone been following the forecast?

Well its seems that there is some wet weather leading up to the meet then for the weekend it seems the unsettled weather will continue with the possiblity of dry and brighter spells.

Saying that though anything could happen by Friday and it all could change.

Still looking forward to it.

I did have a peak and thought "they always get it wrong". We can have a contingency that if it isnt good in Saturday, that we return to Nodden gate and frequent go to the out again it head for another site near somewhere where we can stay dryish for the evening and play dominos

Just see how it goes, and stay flexible

I'm sure it will be good what ever the weather thows at us.

Chewie, I've mailed you my mobile number incase you need to contact me should plans change whilst I'm wild camping on the Friday night .

It's going to look bad now, when I say I can't make it..."He is afraid of the rain"...Well, I won't deny the weather lessen the appeal but it's more a case of "after two week-ends away from home, got other things to do as well as wild camping, like keeping up with non hiking friends..."

Another time, have fun everybody!

Sorry you can't make it, Moon Shadow. Another time, eh (when precipitation isn't expected )?
05/06/2012 at 20:26

Plenty more opportunities, with or without ppn!!

Rain what rain?     Sorry you cant make it.

We need someone new to challenge the Domino Diva

Meets I have been to with Milly and Maria have had good(ish) weather so far - and  a quantity of good food and drink

It's the only wind that I cant escape at meets with them. I am talking about gale force - that are difficult to stand up in,  not the sort from currys

I may look to organise a couple of mini meets in the Peak District and Brecon Beacons (with some help from locals ) so may meet you at them or elsewhere hopefully
