OK,I have grabbed the bull by the horns - here goes

Following on from Moles thread. 

Several options depending on numbers really. 

As suggested camp first night at Fox and Hounds (Near Lydford ) about 5 mins off the A30. Basic but pub on site.

Plume of Feathers -Princetown site can be crowded and noisey

Alternatively wild camp with short walk from the cars depending on time of arrival.

There were a number if names interested on the previous thread so start the normal process of copying and adding your name

Options hmmmm  My ponderings,

 For ease of access (especially for those travelling far) and, as we are just after basic camping and a bar to meet in, the Fox and Hounds ...could be a good  option

I was initially gonna suggest Princetown for the friday night meet as it offers more options ( i.e.  a campsite and 3 bunkhouses, 2 pubs and 3 cafes)  than the Fox n Hounds  Also, the evenings drive across the moor for those not so familiar with could be more pleasant than a 5 minute drive off the A30.

But

as Chewie says, the campsite can be noisy/crowded and  the 2 established bunkhouses (Plume and Foxtor cafe) aren't  supposed to be that brilliant  (the newish one at the Prince of Wales is supposed to be good , but I can't find a link) and places will need booking....

I'd be a little wary of an initial mass car based wildcamp meet near a road   - personally would rather that any wildcamping would be a self-contained backpacking type thing?  

Happy to contribute route suggestions/info (and 'guide' if I am there)

And headache relief in the glove box.

That date is ok for me (work dependent) I thought the Plymouth half was that weekend but it is the previous one.  I might skip the Fri at the pub and rack up on the Sat morning.

I use both of the pubs pretty regularly, less so for camping.  I think the Plume is better for a group only as there is more space in the pub.  Its site facilities are marginally better too.  The Plumes always seemed to need a good clean, the Fox & Hounds are just crap but then it's not like people want a shower before the walk!

On the plus side both of em have reasonable food and beer selection.  Plume does a good breakfast too.  Not had breakfast in the F&H.

Dates are good for me so I'm a definetely maybe.

I've managed to book that weekend off work so just got to clear it with the missus, waiting for the righ moment to mention it. Then book my train tickets.
