Although not quite that bad.... they have a Zoo in Darjeeling (a sh@t hole of a place in Northern India) that I went to purely to see a Snow Leopard. It really does rankle with me to see that in this modern age Zoo's allowing animals to live in these sorts of conditions.

San Diego Zoo is about the only one I've ever been to where I didn't leave feeling sad about the animals.

I have no problems with Zoo's per se as they allow people to see/get close to animals that they might never otherwise do creating maybe an empathy into saving such creatures in the wild from habitat destruction, poaching etc

Never been.  We're in Lakes near Newby Bridge & been up Old Man of Coniston today with our 10 year old.  He has loads of pals on the site we're camping at & tomorrow they have an easter egg hunt & a day of footballl & flying around on their bikes while I enjoy doing nowt.

They had a zoo not far from here that was ok.   Think it's still there.

Hi Rosswm

Nice to see you are braving the weather in the tent whats the weather like? Sounds great fun!

Great yesterday - 5 mins of drizzle & the odd bit of low cloud but otherwise a great clear day!

Today is overcast with sunny spells but mild with the the odd bit of near inperceptable drizzle.

The days flying over to say I'm doing nowt but the odd bit food, brewing & reading.  Fish & chips in Grange tonight & Ambleside tomorrow briefly on the way home for a full monty breakfast at Daisy's!

Not the wildest of trips but good quality time.

Well back now we had a great time the weather was terrible rain, rain and more with heavy hail thrown in, but the new tent stood up to it very well plus electric hook up made all the difference.

Our Tent 2012 Vango Kasari with extension canopy.

flamingo land is a total shite hole, horrible rude foreign staff, animals need putting down the poor things and the place is very expensive, you might aswell take your tents and drive out somewhere and camp at the side of the road, trust me you will have a better time.

Too right John, these damned foreigners have a lot to learn about customer service from us Brits.
