This year, after attending the annual Act of Remembrance at the memorial at Great Gable summit I posted an account and some photos in the Trip Reports section of OM.

In that thread, several people expressed an interest in attending the ceremony next year. That prompted a suggestion that if enough OM-ers wanted to attend, an 'Act Of Remembrance Meet' might be organised for the weekend of 9-11  November 2012.

It was suggested that the Black Sail Hut would be a possible venue (with nearby wild camping for those who prefer to be under canvas) with arrival on the Friday evening, Saturday spent either on individual walks or a group hike, perhaps a communal meal on Saturday evening, then a walk together up Great Gable on the Sunday morning.

This initial post is simply to gauge interest. Add a comment below if you would be interested in joining a weekend meet focused on attending the Act of Remembrance on Great Gable. If enough people are interested, I'm sure something can be organised.

I can't say if I'll be in the UK then but a definate maybe.

+1 here Skip. Definitely +1 here. Been meaning to do it for a few years now so about time I got my arse into gear and did something about it. Even if noone else is going I will be there. Even if that means leaving my house at 3 in the morning to drive up and walk up.

Its hard to say what I'll be doing a year from now, but I'd certainly like to do such a trip. My only problem might be getting there since I don't drive, but there's plenty of time to work something out.

Unfortunately this is always a SARDA assessment weekend, so I won't be able to attend, but I'm going on the Black Sail meet in March so will hope to ascend Great Gable and pay my respects then.

That's a pity that you can't be there in November Kate but respects are respects whenever they are paid.
