Ice Factor - Jan/Feb/March?

For those of you who are based in and around South Wales and the subsequent main trunk route of M4/M50/M5/M6 etc. right up to Kinlochleven, I would like to arrange a 2/3/4? day to visit the Ice Factor and the surrounding area in Jan/Feb/March.

At this stage, no specific details other than I have the facilities of a 16-seater Mercedes Sprinter & Large Luggage Trailer, to whisk us away in comfort. Economies of scale dictate that the optimum number in terms of cost would be 16.

Are there 16 interested?

I already have 4 committed to it.

By the way, if you have'nt checked out their website or read December's issue of Trail, then take a look:

3-days of Ice climbing, Bouldering, and Indoors climbing?

I reckon I'd be up for that.

Only as a possiblity though. Don't want to say definate yet... :-)

Drew,

Nothing's for definate at the moment as I'am just getting an idea for numbers but I appreciate your interest.

Ideally 16 in total would make it extremely cost effective (transportation) and then the other issue is; who would like to camp and who would like guesthouses to be sorted?

Very early planning stage at the moment.

Whereabouts are you anyway?

Well I'd be in Bangor Uni around the time you would be going, so train to Crewe or Chester or somewhere around there, and you would be able to pick me up. Any idea's how much it would cost assuming 16 filled spaces?

Oh and I'd prob camp, but if everyone else stayed in the guesthouse, then I would too.

As an inital costing and don't hold me to this, including 2 nights B&B around the £125 mark.

I would like to point out that any potential trip does'nt have to include the Ice-Factor.

You can hitch a ride to the area and do your own thing.

Come on, there's got to be some more interest out there?

Don't be shy!

I might be, depending on when and if the bank account has money left in it

Jonathon, I'm interested but completely inexperienced at ice climbing (although I will need to get experienced as am going to Nepal later this year and intend to climb something). A lot will depend on timing. Have loads of stuff booked for next couple of months. Once you have a date, I'll be able to yes or no. It's the Fort William Mountain Film festival from 14th Feb for 10 days. That would be a good time as there's loads going on. Mind you everwhere will be booked. Unless we camp!

By the way, I'm a complete stranger but I'm fairly normal. Hope that's OK!

Sorry I have'nt revisted this thread for the last few weeks.

Ice Climbing? I've got no experience of it either, that's why I want to go and try it out (and prefreably with liked-minded inexperienced individuals).

This site is not just about mega-experienced, been there, seen it, done it individuals. It's about people with a passion for the outdoors and the differing experiences just waiting to be sampled, by anyone and everyone.

So come on, join this thread and express an interest. If the numbers stack up, it's game on!

Forgot to add my number count to the last thread. Eight expressing an interest since the original thread posting on the 08/12/03.

Are there any fellow Welsh people on this site?
22/01/2004 at 20:00
Yes there are other welsh people on this site, unfortunantly some might say, you KNOW who you are :-)

I'm interested but it depends on what dates everyone decides on.

And yes I'm welsh, but I escaped to London.

and didn't have to pay to cross the Severn Bridge.....

Grrr

Sorry, re: my last thread.

I did not mean exclusively Welsh nationality, I meant Welsh-based?

Come on, I need at least another 10 or so expressing an interest to make this viable and we are nearly into February.

Seen the pictures on the site? Look in the editorial section.

Does that not wet your appetite?
30/01/2004 at 18:56
Indeed it does...

I feel trying to persuade my boss that a week of Teambuilding activities up there would be benificial.
31/01/2004 at 18:14
Is that confirmed interest Alex?

If so, I can add you to my ever increasing list of possibles.

We're up to 11. Cooking on gas!
