Peter - plan is to stay at the Bothy Friday night as some of us may arrive late and it's an easy option, but we will be camping high level on Saturday night, be great to meet you!

Peter - rough plan for weekend as follows:

Stay Mosedale Cottage Friday night. On Saturday morning, get up bright and lively and go back up to the pass, up onto the ridge (Adam Seat, Knowe, Kentmere Pike, etc down to Kentmere). Then across and up the otherside and hopefully get up to Thornthwaite Crag (camp there).  Sunday, we'll head off up High Street and eventually come back to Haweswater.....

Well... it's time I started looking at the weather forecast...

Friday... rain all day and all night...

Saturday... cloudy, but no rain, all day and all night...

Sunday... a glimmer of sunshine and maybe a bit of rain when it's all over.

That leaves me still undecided!

I'm in the same situation...

Fingers crossed

Nothing wrong with a bit of rain and cloud makes it more interesting
16/08/2012 at 13:31
With a bit of rain I'd agree .but we've had the odd monsoon like yesterday after I gotIn after a quick 1 nighter on top of crinkle crags .. it came down big time in south lakes from 4 till 8 ..
16/08/2012 at 13:43

Mind you... the proposed Saturday night pitch... I once camped up there when there was snow on the ground and cloud that never lifted. At least it didn't rain!

Thormthwaite crag ? You going to meet Paddy ?
16/08/2012 at 16:13

Peter... when I camped up there, it was on the big, open slopes south of High Street, between Thornthwaite Crag and Mardale Ill Bell.

I'm certainly keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Getting to and from that area is interesting by bus, requiring long walk-ins from all directions. Getting away on a Sunday by bus requires an even longer walk-out!

If forecast looks ok I'm going up Friday aft to walk to Kentmere pike and camouflage wait there about for them.will camp sat night but prob came back alongoing yoke etc to car need to be home in afternoon/or earlier .coming from barrow so if that works cud give you a lift one or both ways.gorgeous in south leaked now

A straight-forward run back on the Sunday might be welcome. But first... let's see if both of us actually turn up for the weekend!

Forecasting nightmare for this week-end as it happens. One thing to note, windy on saturday on the tops. Would hate to make a call now for conditions after checking the various models...
