Brought to you by Chewie and Kate, the 2012 Brecon Beacons Meet

Within easy distance of the Gwyn Arms, Tafarn y Garreg and the Ancient Briton. Walks on Mynydd Du, Fforest Fawr and around the waterfalls of Ystradfellte. Miles of escarpments with stunning views, shake-holes, aircraft crash sites, ancient monuments, caves, waterfalls and loads more!

You can wildcamp if you wish, but Chewie's bringing his 'party tent' and a BBQ. All welcome, especially OM newcomers and meet first-timers.

Please add your name to the list below, indicating how many nights you'd like Chewie to book you in for at the campsite (he's doing it on a block booking to make things easier).

MK (2 nights)

Hi Kate,

I have been waiting for a 'local' meet for some time. May have to delay booking as only last week had a knee op and need(clever that) to see how things progress. I'll understand if things get booked up quickly

Me too! I've requested leave and hope to join you. Macs don't play nice with OM, so someone please add me to the list!

I refer you to your PM to me at 17:01 on 14th July. Ok, you may have been pissed, celebrating Bastille Day

And you said you'd bring a BBQ, you didn't say you'd do one!

Yippee! I've swapped the on-call, booked leave so I'm coming

Also, the new version of Safari actually works properly with OM now, so I can quote, insert smilies, and everything!

  6. Milly (2 nights)

  8. Pete (possibly - 2 nights)

I've already put my name down for Skip's Malverns walk for the following Sunday and am wondering whether I can commit to this one too. Mainly 'cos the new college term starts Tuesday 28th and there might be loads of prep to do as I don't yet even know what my timetable will be (assuming I still have a job).

Like the old London bus joke: none coming my way for ages, then two come along together.

Forgot to say, if I make it, that'll be three scruffy (alcoholic) old bastards!

Hope you can make it, Pete, it'd be great to have others along besides the 'old regulars'

01/08/2012 at 14:37

Thanks Kate. Yeah, I know, I'm just 'old' and not very 'regular'

I'm working on convincing myself to be there. I teach part-time, so surely I can get my schemes of work and lesson plans done and still have some 'me' time in the Brecon Beacons. Went into college earlier today, but still no timetables available, nor news on who'll get hit with redundancy, so all a bit unsettling.

I trust you've booked yourself some time away from Uni this summer.

Me at Sgwd yr Eira waterfalls last week; one to visit on the Brecon Beacons Meet!

Pete - yes, had a fortnight in Ireland in June; hope it's good news on the job front - we had a redundancy scare over the winter but fortunately with a couple of early retirements we're ok now.

Irritatingly, numbered lists put the numerals outside the text frame
