Blimey Dick, who would have thought your thread would've lasted this long! ;¬))

What's all this? I get busy for a few days and come back to find the Bennachie thread has developed a life of its own LOL.

I was on Bennachie again on wednesday. I took the mtb to Esson's and walked the Gordon way to the end of the hill, where i kicked off south to the Black Hill trig point as a little nav ex and 'cos I'd never been to it before. On the way back I checked out a couple of tracks i'd not been on before just to see where they went.

All in all a whimsical day where I just went where my fancy took me.

I took my lunch at the trig point; it was a lovely warm day and I experienced that wonderful feeling of well being and contentment that comes with a good day on a hill.

Enjoy your weekend folks, I'll be thinking of you!

Dick it sounds like you had a braw day oot! Your thread has grown legs.....

Elaine- Thanks m'dear. The wedding isn't for another couple of weeks, but I still don't have the outfit. The pressure is on, because it's my best friend's wedding, and, it's at Cameron House on Loch Lomond. So, I have to scrub up really well, and be smart!

Hope the folk night was good. I was at one last night, very late home, but a lot of fun (and only 2 pints consumed!).

What can other fun things can we do to keep Lindsay and Oot in order I wonder? <evil grin>
13/05/2005 at 10:34
Oot- You have not seen the full extent of my abilities! Danger is my middle name! <evillest grin ever seen on the planet!>;o)

Have fun in Glencoe, you lucky chap. Don't spend all your time hatching evil plans, you know you can't win, Elaine and I are way ahead of you (well, Elaine is anyway!). Enjoy yourself instead! and try not to gloat too much! Some of us have to work unfortunately.

It's going to be a quiet week here on Bennachie!

It won't be that quiet - I'm going to be up there on Sunday!

Funny flaff a'boot and I were arranging a weekend's camping on the shores of the Bonnie Banks the same weekend as your wedding. I wondered why he was so anxious to set up the date before he left on his trip to Glencoe.

He told me to bring my best walking gear - now I know why!!!

Off to Inverness shortly to meet clients for a Fisherfield weekend - weather looks good.

See you outside Cameron House - ensure the outfit matches your lingerie so we can easily spot you.

Have a good weekend - your safe to go to Tescos as a'boot and I are in the west.

Flaff, that was a false lead I presume - giving our two intrepid explorers details of your exact location in two weeks time? <nodding in an animated fashion>

Oot will live to regret raising a rock question. By the time I finish lecturing him on Foinaven and Arkle, he’ll be so confused that the mere mention of the words Moine Thrust will reduce him to a quivering wreck.

The folk night was fun, especially when two dogs joined in with surprisingly in tune barking.

Here’s to more whimsical days of the type Dick describes. Toasting with orange juice of course.

Back on this thread as Mr McN's threat didn't materialise - obviously the injunction worked.

Tough day yesterday taking two clients round the six Fisherfield Munros - nearly 16 hours from Shenavall and back so rather cream crackered, so are they. Sunny morning with cool breeze, ideal conditions with fantastic views. In the afternoon some high cloud and to finish a great day beautiful sunset - sky to the west red as were some of the mountains.

Elaine - we have known the date and location of this wedding for a while. I think flaff planned this as she is obviously keen to meet the two intrepid explorers from the Granite City. She is obviously in need of a partner for this wedding so it is either a'boot or myself - I'll have to pop down to Tisos for some new walking gear for the wedding.

Looks like a tough week on this thread with a'boot missing to support me.

I used all my feminine wiles to persuade the hacks to hold the front page Lindsay. But don't be surprised if you notice long lenses trained on you from behind the bushes, the paparazzi may be on your tail.

Sounds like an epic day then Lindsay, shattered but happy I guess, and makes my little ten tor outing pale into insignificance. Yesterday was rough even by Dartmoor standards so I let the ten tor enthusiasts have the moor to themselves and did my walk today instead. My lasting memory of today are huge areas of moorland beneath Hound Tor covered in blue bells - just glorious.

So if Flaff doesn't choose in the next couple of weeks, does that mean you are both gate crashing the wedding? Should be an interesting fortnight then and you're in with a head start. While the frogs away and all that...

The decision may be down to whose tent flaff wants to share after the wedding. Will it be a'boots four season tent or my one or two person tent. The one person tent would be more cosy!!!

I suspect a'boot will be logging in from the top of Bidean this week so watch this space. However he might be snowed off if he doean't have his winter gear as the forecast for the hills is snow, even for low lying areas.

I hate to disappoint you all, but my invite was not a "bring a body" invite. I was invited alone. A sure sign that everyone has finally seen sense and given up hope of me pairing up. So, Gents and Amphibians- you can save your hard earned cash!

As to sharing a tent with strange (and even stranger) men or frogs, whom I do not know....

I'll stick to the crinoline I think! :o)
16/05/2005 at 12:14
flaff - you don't need an invite to gate crash.
Anyway I come cheap!!!
16/05/2005 at 16:30
Cheapest ain't necessarily the best......
16/05/2005 at 17:05
flaff - its difficult to keep up with you - you are on so many threads - trying to avoid a'boot and me.

hello! hello! Anyone home?

<walks in... dumps walking and camping kit on floor> God, I'm knackered! :)

I've just had the most STUPENDOUS week in Glen Coe :p You'll have to see the Scotland thread for the details. All I can say is....WOW!

So did you miss me Flaff? <Flaff thinks, oh no, he's back again :)>

I have to admit.... you crossed my mind on more than one occassion......

There I was, standing on top of Beinn a' Bleithir, looking wistfully out towards Skye, thinking, how am I ever going to get this fair damsel out there for some great mountains, some quaint local cuisine, and some highly interesting, nocturnal, under skirt rummagings? :)))))

So what is this weird adversion to blokes then? Or is it just the ones from Aberdeen who pester you all the time? :)

btw, where are all of these photos of you in the gallery I've been hearing about? :)

Looks like we won't be on for France then Lindsay. That's a pity :) Glad to see these girls haven't (completely) battered you to bits then :) What's new with you?

I'm in two minds whether to spend the weekend in Glen Tilt. I'd like to do Beinn a Ghlo <sp?> and the one opposite. Haven't got a map to hand. Spend the night up past Forest Lodge somewhere. Last time I'd to come down after Carn Liath coz of bad weather. But... It depends on tonight coz I'm out to the local with my neighbour.

Plane crash in the Cairngorms!!!!! Folk will be up there in there hundreds I bet. All trying to get souvenirs no doubt.

I'll get round to the geology question Elaine once I've got my breath back from the trip. Oh no, I've got a horrible feeling you're going to be disappointed by a totally boring question.

Doesn't look like I'll get an invite to the wedding Elaine. I look good in a kilt Flaff, honest! :)

Oh well. Washing to do, and a rucksack to pack for tomorrow. I might pop in later on. Mind you, if I've had a few beers, maybe not :)))) Who know what I'll say! ;)

BFN....paul

Ah, the wanderer returns! Sounds like you had a good trip. I'm back at sea for two weeks, came out last tuesday.

Hi a'boot - good to see that you had an enjoyable week's walking and that the weather wasn't that bad.

It has been very quiet on this thread in your abscence. I think flaff got a bit cheesed off (being polite) with me so I have given up. (meantime) However I note she's pleased to see you back so obviously she has been studying your Gallery picture.

I will be absent from this site till the beginning of June as I am off tomorrow as I have some work in Ullapool doing Corbetts and Munros and then a weekend doing the Torridon Munros. From there I have to move to Tulloch as I am then doing part of "The Road to the Isles".

I have said I may go to The South Cluanie Ridge outing but that depends on work and I have already been along the ridge four times so not that enthusiastic on returning unless it is better weather than the storm I was in last time.

Enjoy your weekend trip.
