How do you fancy a Peak District day walk this Sunday, 20th May, starting from Castleton as well, or instead of, this one?

The proposal is to walk about 14 miles,  heading up to Rushup Edge and Sparrowpit, before returning to Castleton via Perry Dale, Old Dam, Slitherstone Mine and over Cow Low.

Meet outside Castleton Visitor Centre, Castle Street, Castleton, S33 8WG (SK 149 829) at 10am. There's a car park there but not sure how much it charges.

Please bring a packed lunch, although the pub at Sparrowpit is a possibility.

If you're interested, please let us know that you may be coming:-

  1. Milly (me)
  2. Little Miss Maria

Add me as a 'possible' please Milly.

I'm more likely to be free on Sunday than Saturday and Rushup appeals more than Tissington - I take it you'll be going up to the trig point at the top?  I could do with stretching my legs a bit on a longish walk after all that short-but-steep scree scrabbling in the Lakes.

I might make Sunday, my Dad's visiting on Sat.
It'd be good if you're able to make it, Jim

You mean Lord's Seat, Skip? If so, yes (although I'm hoping Major Cynic will be leading the way for this, so I'd better not be too certain just yet )

Hi, yes count me in on this one as I should be leading it! And yes Skip we will get to Lord's Seat. The pub at Sparrowpit is a possibilty as we should get there around about lunchtime although I can't vouch for the pub. A friend of mine who lives in Chapel says it's not very good but his report is a little old as he hasn't been there for a while now.

Went to Castleton 2 weeks ago for a nice 15 miler taking in Lords seat, Mam tor, Back Tor etc... Didn't get to park in the visitors center car park as it was full but in the over flow car park up the road (was nearly empty) was £7.00 for over 4 hours i believe.  This car park was for one of the attractions (Devils Arse maybe?) But was pricy. Just wanted to let you know as the other car park wasa bit cheaper from what i remember.

Enjoy your day out, i will be in the Yorkshire Dales having (hopefully) completed the Yorkshire 3 peaks on Saturday.

My Dad's plans have changed, he's now here all Sunday as well.

So I'll have to duck out. Pity as it is within walking distance from my house.

Ho hum, Jim. Another time, eh?

Not doing too well with this meeting lark.

Still, the Snowdonia weekend was fun, so I'll keep trying.
