How do you fancy a Peak District day walk this Saturday, 19th May, to include taking a look at Tissington Well Dressings?

It will be a circular walk starting from Alsop En Le Dale Station car park (on the Tissington Trail next to the A515, Ashbourne to Buxton Road - SK 155 549 ish) setting off at 10am. Car park costs £3.50 for full day.

It will visit pretty limestone villages (Alsop En Le Dale, Parwich, Tissington) and a few of the Derbyshire Dales (think limestone cliffs, wild flowers and bird song ).

It is likely to be around 15 miles but can be easily cut short at about 10 miles for anyone who's tired, bored or needs to 'get home' sooner.

Please bring a packed lunch (we'll go past one or two cafes and pubs, but no guarantee of stopping).

We'll be doing another walk on Sunday 20th May, starting from Castleton, if you want to make a weekend of it (separate thread later)

If you're interested, please let us know that you may be coming:-

Awwww, no Kinder? No sogginess? No peat groughs to sink into?

I'm in the 'definitely interested' camp but more likely to be free on the Sunday. I'll keep an eye on the thread.

Ooooh... next Saturday? Now that's a long way ahead!

You know what the weather was like when I set off along the Tissington Trail the other week. I made a detour into the village and had a look at the undressed wells, and saw the postcards of them dressed. Despite the rain, I had to admit that the village might actually look quite good in the right conditions. How busy does it get? Do I need sharp elbows? Will I get close enough to the wells to take pictures?

I might make Sunday, my Dad's visiting on Sat.

Paddy, the chances are you'd need pretty sharp elbows, but you've got a few days to make yourself a good "Please stand aside for a moment" faux press card

The good news is that the intended route uses very little of the Tissington Trail, so you wouldn't be retreading too much recent ground.

Anybody who'd like to join the walk but can't make 10am may want to consider joining us at Parwich Church gate at about 11am. I'm sure there's a free car park in Parwich, though I can't find it marked on my (old) maps - perhaps at roughly 189 543 (but perhaps not ).

Oh, but i want to see all the fancy Wells!

Oh, but you will see all the fancy wells... but you might not get a 100% uninterupted photographic view for very long, as there's lots of other people...

Ooooh Glad you can hobble round on one of them, Nick.

Sunday (linky here) ought to take in a few mines and quarries for you

Reference the post concerning the Car Park at Parwich I just happen to have the White Peak OL 24 Map open in front of me and I can confirm it shows a Car Park at Parwich.

That's good. It might be a newer car park than my map Thanks, Ashley.

I should be there.

I'm easy to spot as I'll be wearing my full one man band/walking gear ensemble.

Cheers

No unicycle? I'm imagining a one man band combined with LMM's singing (or perhaps )
