Hey all,

I realised I never did my introduction. Im 21, I was a scout for a long time, mainly just the basic hillwalks and overnights on peaks or in forests.I also have some bushcraft experience... lashing together shelters, natural bivis but this is at the most basic of levels. I am currently planing a month long trip through europe and the plan with to pack light and wild camp most nights. If it's not as easy as im hoping then i guess I'll have t use campsites... I am open to as much advise as I can get because like I said all of my knowledge is fairly basic.

Thanks,

Mark

Welcome Mark

Plenty of wildcamping to be had in France, away from the beaten track, although I had a slightly worrying experience one morning.

having pulled off the road into a wooded area whilst cycling I pitched up and settled in for the night.  I was woken by a slightly odd frenchman with a shotgun who seemed put out that was there.  I presume that was the problem because he didn't speak any version of French that I could understand.

Que dueling banjos in my head, as I realised that no one knew where I was in any detail.  Having said that most French people just shrug their shoulders when I pitch up and that included one occasion when we realised that it was someones garden.

Have fun

Hey Steve,

Thanks for that, put a bit of my worry to rest. If I meet your farmer I'll let him know you say Hi. Im just going to aim for forested areas, keep myself to myself. I'll be sure to check for houses when pitching up. My french isn't great but I'll be sure to learn "Please dont shoot"

 Thanks,

Badger
