hi everyone.

thought i'd introduce myself. i have been an armchair member fro a few months now but finally am back on the fells after being unable since october.

i had a slipped disk (L3/4) operated on in march to releive me from sciatica which was really crap.

so after lots of post op physio and rehab i reached my personal goal of getting to the top of skiddaw on thursday. i was so chuffed i went up blencathra on friday. i realised how much i have missed them over the last 9 months.

i enjoy all sorts of outdoors stuff, mainly easy mountaineering stuff. my best mountain days so far would be tower ridge (summer), snowdon horseshoe, pinnacle ridge sgurr nan gillean, aonach eagach... all that sort of stuff. i like easy climbs in winter and summer but dont like getting scared so try not to do anything too crackers.

when i get back into my normal work pattern, i work funny shifts so can be free mid-week and up for a few days away.

i am an active member with carlisle mountaineering club but like to have my fingers in as many pies as i can so if anyones heading up north or down south with a spare seat and room for my 6ft7 legs, drop me a line.

Q. how do the om trips work? is there a pecking order or do you just pop your name on the lists?

thanks,

dan.

Welcome to OM Dan, Click on the link below to see some of the meets

Millys meet calander

It's just a matter of making a comment if you want to join in or ask a question, perhaps if you've been there or would manage to go,,  I'm a bit far north for many of them .

Hi Dan, welcome to OM, and hoorah for getting back on the hills after injury.

Meets are open to all, a small minority have restricted numbers cos they're in huts or camping barns with small capacity, but any meets advertised on the Forum are public. There's no pecking order. The format of meets varies, on some a rough route is decided beforehand, on others groups of members go off and do their own thing, decided beforehand or organised in the pub the night before. It's all very informal.

Hope to see you on one soon!

Hi Dan,

Welcome to OM

Meets are great - I did my first in March and the diversity of participants makes it fascinating, the meets are in great places too!

Welcome to OM, Dan. I'm another relative newcomer to meets - only been on three or four but I was made very welcome and found myself in very good company. Just have a look at the meets diary (link above) then sign up and turn up. Simples.
